I hope the new Fortec HD receiver isn't toooo disappointing for us
I know you can't please everyone, but it would be nice to not disappoint so many..!!

From Lyngsat:

24/7 on ku band is PBS and that's it.
NASA has a HD feed part time on c-band I think.

Rest are feeds, which we don't discuss here in an open forum.


Oh, and if you talk to the Fortec folks, please pass on that if their new box doesn't blind scan DVB-S2, they can save themselves a lot of effort. IMO it won't sell well to us true FTA'ers. We already have many options for HD receivers, and all of them display HD very well. We NEED a DVB-S2 blindscan unit very badly.

Another dream feature is 4:2:2 Chroma support. A single box that would handle everything we see over NA would sell a few copies.

I hope Fortec listened to us in the survey we took part in.

I'm interested in the upgrade to a dedicated DVB-S2 capable receiver myself without adding cards and such. I hate the fact that S2 can't be blind scanned on the receivers already out there. Is there a technical reason for that?

I dont know of anything else that is up there 24/7 in the clear...the rest are basically sports feeds that come and go

The Denver Locals on 129 require 8psk card that does turbo and you must live in the Denver, CO area as they are spotbeamed (because of Ceil at 129)

It used to be listed on lyngsat but it isn't any more. It was on on one of the Anik birds on C band, but I don't have C band so I can't check what happened to it.

Yeah saw it there also on Cband, and now that I am back with a 6ft cband dish its nowhere to be found. Figures

I'm curious just how you define "feeds". The way I look at it, except for the subscription stuff, 99% of what's up there are feeds. I've run into a variety of definitions for the term, but none seem to fit the context of your statement.

Here on Satelliteguys, context is important. If someone says Feed, they could mean anything. In MY case, if I say I cannot talk about a feed in an open forum, its a feed that isn't on lyngsat. Technically I guess it should properly be called a wild feed, but we have always shortened it to just feed.

Without mentioning any feeds, PBS is the only HD available on Ku Band.
