2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Expert's Picks - Riff's Picks

All the experts feel Detroit-Pittsburgh will win their Conference Finals. I don't completely agree. Although I think there will be a rematch, I feel it will be a rematch between Detroit-Carolina (circa 2002 Stanley Cup Finals). We shall see. In any case, I predict good games and good ratings...Chicago-Detroit ratings will be through the roof. While the Pittsburgh-Carolina ratings will be solid, secretly the NHL was hoping for a Pittsburgh-Boston matchup.

Go Wings!!!

Time to give my Conference Final Predictions:

Chicago/Detroit- This is an old-school rivalry between two teams dripping with talent. IMO, the most interesting factor in this series could be whether the Red Wings will be exahusted from their seven-game war with the Ducks. Another key will be experience vs. youth- normally, you always take the experienced team, but then again, last year's Rays blew that theory out of the water.

Chicago will be more of a challenge in terms of depth and talent. Columbus did not have many scoring threats, and Anaheim had only one good scoring line. Chicago comes in waves, and that could be trouble.

My heart says Blakhawks, but my head says Red Wings- in six, maybe seven.

Pittsburgh/Carolina- This is a series I did not see coming. (I was rooting for the B's and Caps). Still, it'll be an interesting matchup.

A key factors will be fatigue (both came off tough seven-game series)- the story that will get most attention is the battle of the Stall brothers.

I say Pens in six- they have the scoring depth, and Carolina went through two seven-game series- the last two teams to do that- 1993 Leafs, 2002 Avalanche- lost in the Conference Finals.

In a year when Boston, San Jose, and Washington stole all the headlines- I think we'll have an unlikely rematch of last year's Finals.

No need to be nice, Detroit fans need to face the fact that they are about to get steam rolled by Chicago.... Seriously, I'm predicting Chicago wins the series in 6. They have no idea what its like to have a dustin bufflin.

Steam rolled?? Hey tell Jeremy Pivan that its not the wings that suck, but its the Blackhawks that do!! Wings Depth will be the difference maker!!

You're in for a major disappointment. Of course, on a positive note they don't suck as bad as they did last season.

Who's calling the game ?

As for a disappointment, as long as the Wings come out on top, I'll be fine, I can always turn the radio on and listen to Ken Danials or is it Ken Kal ...

I'll be watching today. I wounder if people are thinking it's gonna be a walk in the park for the Red Wings, I thing Chicago is gonna surprise the Red Wings some.
