Uncharted 2: Among Thieves release date confirmed

Well I played single player for about 45 mins last night (all I could sneak in without totally pissing off the girlfriend). It is great. Very enjoyable and amazing graphics. At first I was worried about the game control being sluggish, but then realized that you start the game injured so it is supposed to be like that. After you get to the "flashback" you have the same fluid controls as Uncharted 1. Looks to be a very good game! Can't wait until I have some more time to play this one (and try out the multiplayer).

I had the same concern at the beginning before I also realized that Drake was hurt... On Chapter 23 now and so far all I can say is it is far and away the best game I have ever played. My wife has been just sitting and watching me play it for about 6 hours in the last few days, and she NEVER does that.

I only have one minor complaint, which is that a couple of times I've been in close quarters (next to a wall, climbing or something) and the camera gets a little jinky, but it's not enough to even be annoying, let alone taking anything away from the game experience...

I only got to chapter 9 this weekend, and I concur, best gaming experience ever. From the opening platforming sequence and cut scenes, you know that this is going to be something special. My girlfriend, unfortunately, has a limited attention span for watching me play video games, though I might be able to pull her into playing herself sometime on the Very Easy difficulty setting.

Maybe it's partly because I played through U1 five times, but I'm finding the combat easier (playing on Normal) but locating treasures harder. I got 9 in the first two chapters and thought I was doing really well, and then in chapters 3-6 didn't find anything, though I scoured every nook and cranny and climbed every climbable. I thought my game was glitching until I picked up a few more in chs. 7-8.

I do have the ultimate cheat, however: the digital treasure map I got as a pre-order bonus from Amazon. It's an interactive map of each chapter and when you click on a treasure location, you get the video clip of Drake finding it, just like you see posted on YouTube for U1's treasures. Pretty handy and nicely done, much more than I expected as a pre-order freebee (file size is 772 MB). I will only use it as an absolute last resort (after I've gone through the game a couple times), and so far I've only experimented with it by checking out the first treasure I had already found. They could really make some $$ off this if they offer it as a buyable DLC, even though I'm sure the content will find its way to YouTube if it hasn't already. U2 will bring a lot of new people into the franchise, who might be drawn to something like this.

Edit: OK, turns out digital treasure map only gives you the location of the first six treasures. What a joke! Thanks for nothing Amazon!
Edit 2: So I complained to Amazon about their lame-o pre-order bonus and they threw me a 25% refund bone. Nice!

I made it to chapter 11 this weekend (I think there are only 26 total?). Out of town all week for work and then out of town next weekend for a wedding so I probably won't be able to break it back out until the following week. That sucks! I also went through several chapters withough finding any treasure (3-6 sounds about right). I have no idea if they were there and I couldn't find them or if there just werent' any there. I have seen two treasures that I couldn't figure out how to get to. One that you can only get before you do something (in the room with the big face on the floor) and another up in a tree that I couldn't figure out how to reach. Gave up after trying after about 10 mins of jumping around like a moron.

Yeah, I figured there were probably treasures in areas that I didn't know I was supposed to be able to access. When I go back through, I'll see if I can clear a new path by blowing up doors and other obstacles with the propane tanks or have someone give me a boost. When I got to chapter 7, I killed myself several times falling off buildings, looking for opportunities to scale down the side to access a new area that wasn't part of the story path.

That one you can shoot down.:) I didn't know this, at the MAIN menu, select chapters, and you can scroll through the ones you've played and it will give you a count of how many treasures you found, out of how many that are there.

Same here.:D

Me too.

Exactly the same here - it seems easier for sure, but I think it's the experience of the first (and being used to playing it on Hard or Crushing) plus the multiplayer this summer.

I thought I was doing OK for treasure until I realized I had 15 when I should have had about 60. Almost to the end now and still only have 32 out of 101...

okay so I got to play this game for a half an hour today and WOW I cant wait to get this game, I love it, I thought U1 was the best, but now this one has leapfrogged it!

Well, I'll be darnd. Thanks on both counts!

Finished last night with 35 total treasures... seems low, but I definitely think the treasures are harder to find in this one.

The gameplay itself definitely seemed easier, but I think that's just a combination of me having more experience and the better targeting and grenade systems in this game. We'll see what Hard and Crushing have to offer, but maybe a little more multiplayer first...? I've only played enough to get to level 12 so far.

One nice thing is that all of the money earned in either "side" of the game (single or multi) goes into the same wallet, so if you want to spend all of your cash upgrading yourself for the multiplayer game, you can do that, or vice versa. Of course, there's a bunch of stuff on both sides that requires you to be at a certain level, to have beaten the game on a certain difficulty, or to have purchased something else before you can buy it.

Did you need to upgrade anything to finish SP on Normal? I noticed in MP, all the boosters are locked, even though I have $140,000+ in my wallet. I need something because I'm stinking up the joint big time in MP, though it doesn't help that the matchmaking puts my on a team of noobs (no one over ten) against a team of 20+'s.

I finished on normal. I have now started on hard, and done some searching on some chapters to try and find all treasures. Did find the Strange Relic.

Congrats stimpson! Some things are more important than PS3, but I'm sure that is hard. :)
I was smart.. I planned my child's birth a good 5 months after Uncharted 2's release (well okay so I didn't but nature works in good ways sometimes) so now all I have to deal with is a resentful wife, as opposed to an angry resentful wife along with a crying child..

Nah, didn't even look at any single player upgrades yet. I got close to $500k in my wallet between SP and MP, and then spent a bunch of it on MP upgrades. Even after finishing the game on normal, most of the SP upgrades are still locked - all of the "tweaks" are locked, except for fast motion and some useless things like that.

On the other hand, the MP upgrades are also locked until you get to certain levels. I got "Revenge" early because of my GS pre-order, although I still had to pay for it ($135k, I think), but I'm just now getting a few other useful things available to buy.

I'm on level 14 so far on the MP, but finding it much harder to level up than it was in the demo because of the extra game types. I just played Plunder over and over again - that seems to be the best way to get cash quickly, especially if your team does well - but now I can go several games without even having a Plunder option to pick, instead having to play king of the hill and such.

It also doesn't help that I pretty much suck at MP - My kill/death ratio is like .85 or something like that... but I've had some good Plunder games - $12-$15k in one game...

Beat the game early Last week. The best Single Player experience this generation. Amazing story, great Gameplay, Well developed characters. Game is very well polished. Other developers should take a note from Naughty Dog. I'm surprised Naughty Dog developed & shipped the game out so quickly(less than 18 months). If you have a PS3 go buy this game NOW. PS3 has been on a roll as of recently.

Just wish the trophies were different. Trophies are exactly the same as Uncharted 1. Except they added 2 trophies for Co-Op.

I also uploaded allot of SinglePlayer gameplay to youtube. For those who still unsure if they should pick it up or just don't have a PS3 yet.
