But the easiest solution would be to slap in a Dish1000.4 and call it done. Even if 77 doesn't work well in Maine, there really isn't much there except PPV's and HD locals and few other minor channels. From what I hear anyways, virtually everything except for the HD locals on 77 will move to 72 by the end of March.

Or do a 110/119/61.5/72 setup.

What dish's do I need to do that?? How would that be set up.

I was thinking that I could do a EA, so 77, 72, 61.5, but just add another dish for 110, since my locals are up there.

I am astounded at how many people here feel "if it doesn't affect me, to hell with the rest of you!" It's not whining. It's a legitimate complaint! Those of us who have had service for ages, paying the most for the highest level of service just got hit with the largest price increace EVER by Dish. Within a week, Dish then decides to launch channels in such a way that those of us who just got hit with a monstrous price increase get screwed good and hard while jackasses on this board point, laugh and say we are a bunch of whiners.

It is unfair to the CORE! For anyone to defend such a practice of surreptitiously adding services to some and keeping it secret from others in the hopes no one will notice the misdeed is as low as any human can get. Anyone who defends such a move is lower than those soulless, unscrupulous low-lifes initiating the inexcusable business practice. And please don't tell me you'd feel the same if it was you who were getting the royal shaft!

What is the remedy? For one DON'T HIDE! Tell those affected. If it's as few people as some say then Dish needs to CALL these people and offer the fix to receive all the channels being paid for! If that would cost Dish too much, then they need to find another fix. How about $4 off a month until the service is restored to the same as those able to receive the channels?

I understand Dish's issues with 61.5, but the customer should not be made to pay for something he is not getting either!

But like lemmings, those unaffected will just sit by quietly and murmur about how those affected do nothing but "whine". It's the Human condition. If it doesn't affect me, don't get involved.

That is all I will say on this subject. To all of you getting the new channels, enjoy.

Agree with sundude, TNGTony, juan, and whoever else believes Dish can give everybody (including us mixed-arc folk) these channels. The solution is to put up the channels on 119 rather than 129 and either wait for the E14 shuffle until E14 is actually in orbit, or else do a flash cut. What's so bad about that?

The issue there is if they put them on 119 then people will expect them to remain there. You would be surprised how many people only get 110/119 and not 129 or 61.5. When they got the issues fixed at 61.5 and removed the channels off of 119 there would be massive complaints.

This one is a damned if they do, damned if t hey dont thing.

They have contracts to get these channels up and so they are getting them up. Many people will be able to see them, while many others will not.

This was not a "well let's see if we can get them to buy a new Dish." decission, it is how do we get these channels up when we have contracts. A few weeks ago they didn't expect the failures they had on 61.5 causing them to have to rethink on how to launch them.

Putting these channels is not what Dish Network wants to do eaither. They want as many people to see them as possible as more HD sells more service.

I am not happy about whats going on, but at the same time I also understand.

What they're doing to 61.5 customers is absolute BS. It's an amateur move by an enormous company. It's almost unbelievable.......

A satellite failure is a mitigating factor that could get them out of any breach scenario if the channels aren't launched by the date in the contract. I doubt that it would even come to that as the content providers are not going to waste their time, money, and "goodwill" with E* by pursuing legal remedies over a minor delay that resulted from a tech failure over which E* had no control.

* I am NOT a 61.5 customer.

Agree with you 100%
The wing dish customers are some of the first and longest HD customers that E* has. Don't forget that people! Again E* wishes to give New customers everything they want, and screw the customers that made HD with E* what it is today.
Its BS that I have to pay $15 and wait for a technition to install a Dish that all new customers had for the past year +.
If I didn't visit satellite guys , I would have just been another blind E* sucker that paid the same as all the 129 customers but got less HD.

So let me get this straight. According to what you know, Dish's choices were to put these channels on 110/119 so that people who are supposed to get them could at the cost of surprising people who wouldn't be getting them anyway, and not putting them on 110/119, depriving people who are paying to get those channels from seeing them.

Doesn't seem like a rock and a hard place to me. It sounds like Dish felt that avoiding whatever inconvenience was involved in putting the channels up on 110/119 and then switching them to 61.5 was worth pi**ing off its customer base.

On another point, if they had to, by contract, get the channels up by this date that's one thing; otherwise, and assuming they actually have plans to enable people with 61.5 to get these channels within a reasonable time frame, what would be the big deal in delaying the launch until everyone had access? I mean, it's not as if Dish has shown any concern in the past for subscribers who have clamored for new national HD.

Hey, they'll do what they want to do but it certainly seems from what you said above that they could have traded some convenience for the sake of not enraging customers.

Yea God forbid they could just inform a customer of what will happen.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Excuses Excuses. Thats all this is!

  • Lets see, Inform a customer that subscribes to 110,119,61.5, That you won't get any New HD untill futher notice.
NOPE don't tell them , cause it will cost us money to upgrade their dish.

  • Tell the customer that 61.5 has been a piece of crap for years
NOPE just tell them we didn't lauch any new HD channel this week

  • Next Charlie Chat,,
All our HD customers just got 8 more National HD channel, we truely are the leader:devil:

Well thank you for welcoming to the forum i am also a member on dbstalk and i do not post that much on there i just like to lurk around and read about different subjects on there.Yea my dad lives in sylacauga alabama and he has tubrohd and i letted him know about the new channels coming today and tommorow.and i hope he gets them so he has some more HD to watch at the houseoh my name is Allen and if you need anything all you got to do is ask.

Going to sound like an idiot here. But my dish is the one with the "Turbo HD" logo on it. Am I ok for the upcoming channels?

Human nature is a funny thing.

Objectively, who else even carries BBCA-HD or FSC-HD or some of those movie channels? So for those of us with 61.5, there really isn't an alternative provider anyway (at least not now). Regardless, when you p**s people off they will do irrational things. Not a good choice by Dish, IMO.

What dish's do I need to do that?? How would that be set up.

I was thinking that I could do a EA, so 77, 72, 61.5, but just add another dish for 110, since my locals are up there.

Josh

I believe the 1000.4 has an LNB in port for use with a wing dish.

yes it does. So some folks have a EA dish (61.5,72,77) and a dish for 110 or even 118 (for Int'l)

The International folks in a EA market have 2 dishes

Anybody in VA using a Dish 300 for 129? If so, what signal strengths are you getting, and what settings??? If this blizzard ever goes away, i may have to try seeing if i can see 129 temporarily w/o my garage getting in the way :(

This sux 'cuase I've really been looking fwd to the new ones... :(
