The time has arrived, R.I.P Directv

The only ones that are blinded are the DirecTV faithful. Seriously, they have the worst HD line up in the industry.

Based on what, strictly channel totals? That's a really stupid way to judge a lineup. Who has the most channels you want to watch is an intelligent way to go about it. For me, it's Directv because they have the YES network and Dish doesn't. I can't get FIOS, but I could get Cox. I'll stick with Directv, thank you.

The only ones that are blinded are the DirecTV faithful. Seriously, they have the worst HD line up in the industry. Dish had them beat, Verizon has them beat, AT&T has them beat and any decent cableco has them beat. When they could no longer advertise they had the most HD channels (a good portion of which showed no HD content at the time) they started adverting on ‘HD capacity’. DirecTV has always had sleazy marketing IMO and that just added to it. As for what to count, I’ve always counted full time, national, non PPV HD channels. I have 122 HD channels with cable, but when I compare that with others I subtract my locals and my RSNs making it 107.

Yes, Fios is pretty much out of bandwidth. Doesn't mean they won't add a channel here and there. They had to remove the west coast HD feeds of the movie channels in order to add the Rainbow channels in HD. Verizon is moving to an IPTV based system due to lack of current bandwidth. Google it, you'll see I'm right.

I don't have to spew my hatrid toward Verizon to make them look bad, they suck enough on their own.

Lets see Verizon add the 50+ HD channels they lack using their current QAM infrastructure. Not gonna happen.

IF you have all this on your Cable system, WHY are you guys over here in the D* forums ?
Move on to the Cable forums and have fun.

Its a free country and I can be anywhere I damn well please!

I suppose if I said a few positive things about DirecTV it wouldn't have mattered who I get my TV service from and I would be welcomed with open arms, but since I don't sing the praises of DirecTV (since they really have none), I get that response..

The title of this thread is "The time has arrived, R.I.P Directv"
However those that have lweft D* seem to STILL be HERE on the D* forum, for some reason, oh ya, thats right, your cable must not be very good seeing your HERE.

Yes, based strictly on channel count. You know who you have to thank for that mentality you think is so stupid? DirecTV! They're the ones that focused on channel count and played fuzzy math with the numbers since the beginning, so I'm just playing by DirecTVs rules. Seems to me a lot of people hat BBC America and AMC, neither of which DirecTV has in HD. What about channels that finally made it to the DirecTV system? I had the much requested Travel Channel HD three years before DirecTV did, had ESPN U HD since a month after it launched. Judging by a lot of posts here, DirecTV anorexic HD channel lineup no longer fills the needs of many of their subscribers. Channel counts may mean nothing to you but imagine DirecTV having just five more HD channels, any five, quite a few people would be more happy then they are today as some one will be getting a favorite channel or two in HD.

And your point? Your here too, guess D* isn't that great then!

As long as I'm a satellite guys member, I can choose to post and comment in any thread I choose.

If Scott has a problem with that I think he'd let me know.

Untill then some of you guys can just exit the door you came in .
No rules here forcing you to read or comment over anything I feel or say!

Sci Atl was purchased by Cisco a few years ago. All new boxes from them have been rebranded Cisco. The Cisco Explorer 8640HDC is the successor to the Explorer 8240/8300 series. The new boxes feature more internal RAM and larger hard drives. For non DVRs the Cisco 4640HDC replaced the 4200 series
Okay, I'll repeat... [strike]SciAtl[/strike] Cisco and cablecos are still using the 8300 ?

Ok, at this point, isnt this what the war zone is for? Seriously?

Yeah, I know I can ignore it, and from here on out I will. Bash away, but damn.......whats the point of having that subsection otherwise?

Edit: Not questioning the original intent of your thread Hemi. ;)

Amen to that

Yep, and they work a hell of a lot better then any R or HR I've ever leased or owned!
I guess the D* boxes are really bad.... When I had TW, the 8300 used software from Pioneer (the same Pioneer that makes audio equipment) and it was reasonably good. It was limited, but worked okay. Later, TW developed their own in-house software that in most opinions, "sucks".

What interface/software does Blue Ridge use on them, if you know ?

Hmm, so you are saying you agree that it's stupid, but you also believe it. Hmm, what does that say about you Steve?

Directv's HD lineup has fallen behind a few other providers but here where i am cable isn't an option. comcast's HD lineup and prices are disgusting. Already did the Dish thing for 10 years so I have the best i can get here. If I had hemi's or steves options and they were better than D* both in prices and HD lineup then I would've done the same as they did. At the end its just tv and i have zero emotional attachment to all this stuff. I'm not thrilled about the fact that Directv hasn't added many HD channels (non ppv or premiums or rsn's) since 2007 or whenever but its the best option i got which also means i'm getting the most for my money. I would love for D* to add more National non premium HD channels this year but if they don't i'm not going anywhere either.

It says that I blindly follow DirecTV like everyone else here does, because the Direct way is the right way

More FUD. You are pretty good at that.
I have Directv because they have the most channels that I want to watch. Can I make it any more simple? If Dish had the YES network, I would consider switching based on other criteria, but they don't. That narrows it down to Directv and Cox, since FIOS is virtually non-existent in CT. Directv's dvr is a quantum leap over Cox's. End of story for me.

Bingo Chip.

There is no BEST service and you nicely explain why there is no clear choice for what provider is best.

Hey Scott, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while! :D BTW, have you fixed your drainage problem yet? Just wondering what the cause was.
