2011 NCAA Tournament

I still think the Big East was overrated as a whole. (not saying it wasnt a tough conference, not even saying that it wasnt the best overall)

Yes they have a team in the final four, hell, out of eleven tries they better.

LOL!! I was thinking the same thing...but I am not suppose to because I do not root for conferences....but it did bug me when people HERE were saying the Big East was overrated. To me they weren't and they to me all 11 teams deserved to be invited. A testament to how tough that league is ...is the team representing the Big East in the FF..... UConn.

...OMG, I think I just puked in my mouth thinking that..... LOL!

Just because one team made it to the final four doesn't mean they aren't overrated. They are overrated. They took in 11 teams and only 2 made it to the sweet 16 when they had 16% of the entire field....including the playin teams.

No. The fact that the best team of the conference did not go to the FF goes to show you how tough that conference was. I mean I did not rate the teams throughout the year... writers and COACHES did. So are you saying the coaches did not know what they were talking about? Are you NOW saying that the teams that beat the Big East teams weren't that good, they just beat teams that were overrated? I mean that is alot of assumptions you are making?

You know, I get this argument in college football, where teams don't play each other and it's mostly conjecture, but not in college basketball. The game is won and lost on the court.

- Doesn't matter how many Big East teams made the tournament. UConn had to go through the same path to get to the Final Four that the other teams did.

- Difficult to say VCU could not play in the Big East, when they absolutely embarassed Georgetown, one of the better teams in the Big East. They outplayed the better teams from a lot of conferences, actually

- Butler making it to two final fours is not a fluke anymore. They can play with anyone.

- Jay Bilas is still a dope

The NCAA tourney does not agree with this assessment.

I'm not talking about just one game, a whole season against big east teams, uconn was the 9th ranked team in the big east, that alone tells you how tough the big east is.

Salsa, would you say that they are the 9th best team in the Big East as the conference record indicated, or were they the 3rd best team in the Big East as the Coaches and writers indicated in the polls?

Exactly, which is why I love the NCAA Tournament. Everyone has a chance, and conference bias is disregarded.
How I wish 1A football would do the same as 1AA, II, III, and every other division.

...never mind that 2 of the BE teams were eliminated by other BE teams.

Numbers-wise, the B10 did WORSE. Same %age of their conference got in, more or less, and none in the final 4, despite having the #1 overall seed, too.

Their record said one thing but HOW can you discount a team that has a good to great coach and quite possibly the best college basketball player in the land?

OMG..... Two straight compliments to a team I hate! LOL! I think I am gonna hurl again.....

Yet all this RPI and strength of schedule crap is based partly on the one or two big OOC games that all teams play. If you cant win the big ones when they count....well.

Again, not saying the conference isnt strong. Or that it isnt the best. I am saying that it was overrated. Hard to defend that based on the teams in the tourney and the results on the court.

How can you say that when 4 Big East teams played other in the tourney?

And, mostly by the conference games that they play.

Going by that logic, and looking at the teams in the FF, many of the top seeds and other power conferences should be labeled as overrated as well, right??
