I captured 2 crimestar dishes making a break for a landfill today, i apprehended them along the road and am holding them without bail indefinitely. Both are without lnbs, but have the arm and bracket.
I have a lnb from an old superdish as tron mentioned. i dont know anything about those lnbs, on a coolsat 6k, what lnb settings do i use?
Thanks
Kodaz

bandstacked LNB reading material

This is old news, but nothing has really changed. - :up
It's what I learned from.
Don't think anyone has written any better. ;)
Should give you all the info ya need.
If not, just ask:

Iceberg on Bandstacked Dish Network LNB frequency considerations:

- which LNB to use on SuperDish:

bandstacked Ku local oscillator frequencies:

Do the dishes have the feedhorns attached? If not, the Superdish FSS LNB won't do you any good, since it is a flanged LNB designed to mount to a C-120 feedhorn.

You might be able to find feedhorns on Fleabay, that's where I got the original one for my 1 meter dish.

Tron's got a point.
Tell us the size 'n shape of the dish. (post height and width)
Maybe the mold-number from the back side.

If the dish is elliptical (wider than tall), you need the original feedhorn.
If the dish is nearly round (tiny bit taller than wide), the original feedhorn is best, but there are some good substitutes.

Well guys i got 2 primestar dishs last week and one is a 4' with the lnb on it, look at newbie post mrmeandu i got pic there of the 4' 0ne, but not the 84e i think thats what thay call it still working on trying to get guality have good signal, question, if its a fixed sat will it pick up more then one bird dont quite under stand it yet, 1 more question how can you tell if the lnb is bad ?

"O" goooood job on saveing the primebandits
I like dumps dont know what youll find

The original lnbs are gone. Bracket is there. one is 40 X 30 tall, the other is 27 x 36 wide.
I remember reading of a replacement lnb out there, i just gotta find the thread.
Thanks for the info all

With some help from Iceberg and others, I've compiled a short list of some common dish sizes.
If anyone sees an error, do let me know:
Code:
[FONT=Fixedsys]
[B]Primestar / ChannelMaster dish info[/B]:
84e is 40x30
75e is 37x27 arm: 21"
70e ?? 35x21 Hughes
60e is 32x20

[B]DishNetwork Superdish and DirecTV dishes[/B]:
DishNet SuperDish: 36" x 20"
DirecTV Slimline: 32.5 x 22.5
  [/FONT]
One source of replacement LNBs is ImpaktProducts.com
There are at least three of the soup-can units, with various brands, markings, and features.
Be sure you understand which you want.
Also, they may show the feedhorn in the picture, but they don't ship with it (unless specifically noted).
The name they use for the feed is something like: LNB mounting bracket. -

If you search elsewhere, such as eBay, look for: Hughes, Primestar, or Eagle Aspen
(and if you are unsure, post here and someone can confirm you've found the right one)

Mr.M : This really should've been a new post (the start-new-topic button is way up near top of the page) ..... maybe we can answer the question though: Fixed just means a dish is "fixed" on one satellite-that's what these little ku dishes were made to do, originally.
If you dont have a motor rigged up to the dish, then it is fixed (to one satellite position) . You'll have to get busy aiming the dish with everything connected, and try to find an active frequency on whatever sat you are aiming on, to test the receiver/lnbf out, unless you have some fancy test equipment. I have several of those old primestars , about 5 I think, lost count, and so far I only picked up one that had a bad lnbf. They were made to be rugged, and last awhile, and most of them did. And even though they are several years old now-most will still do a good job for fta tv. Wecome to the forum!

this one ?
Eagle Aspen 270 Ku Band...
it seems to be right and i called the guy who said the feedhorn comes with it.
Thanks

yes, I think so

Seems like you've got the 84e and the 75e dishes, and Impakt says the feedhorn (and LNB) fit 'em both.
Not all that cheap, but not unreasonable.
And, they have the LNB covers, if you want 'em.
Not sure if they're for round dishes or for elliptical dishes, but if ya need 'em, might as well get them all in the one shipment.
Ask them if there are any other pieces needed.
I know when new, there is also a plastic shield over the open end of the feedhorn; but they're not listed on the site

Well, been longer then a few weeks, but the results are good.
These LNBs have the covers and feedhorns all ready on them and good to go.
My Q jumped by an easy 15, but that is not to say that i had a good set up with the round LNBs.
Just bolt it on and go.
I like that!
