Dish is forcing banner ads on premium channels.

Has anyone called Dish to complain about these annoying banners? If so, what did the CSR say? If history is any indicator, I'll bet the CSR had no idea what you were talking about.

Actually, i understand the annoyance. But even not having read it ( and who does?), the RSA (residential service agreement) which is in the back of of your reciever manual, probably says something about things of that nature. And by using the 'service' , you agree to deal with crap like that.

Its annoying kinda like when stations started putting thier emblems on the screen. I don't need to see that. Especially on Playboy. The bunny ears get in the way!!!! ?

Well, that's a good comparison. Kind of like comparing Cruise Ships to Howler Monkeys.
I agree. The SCOTUS decision actually can affect the livelihood of a person's life, where as this pop up banner is minor inconsequential annoyance.

Granted, being a SatTV board, I doubt a SCOTUS decision would be on-topic, that said, there is probably a ton more people pissed at Dish than over the fact that SCOTUS made a rather significant decision.

Yes but the logos are not something placed into the programming by Dish Network unlike the banners. If they are giving you programming for free then I could see this solicitation but when you pay fees to subscribe to particular programming it should be free of banners and ads, just like this forum.

yes, this pop-up banner ad that you can't turn off is just as bad as Dish forcing your DVR to record something on channel 101 every once in a while during the late night/early morning hours. i hate that dish forces things on you like that with little or no warning, i understand on demand stuff, but don't interrupt my TV watching to record your DVR on-demand crap. anyway this is pretty bad for Dish to do that to people who have the premium channels, and let's hope this doesn't spread to the America's Top (insert package channel amount number here) packages. isn't there a thing in the Dish contract about this that's consider fine print.

Dish has been downloading info like that for years, it does not or ever has interfere with watching TV. I'm not saying you have to like it, but it does not interfere.

I came here looking for how to turn this off after going through the menus for 30 minutes.

Please put me in the "it bothers me, turn it off" camp...

If Dish Network could somehow just show the banner maybe the first two or three times you turn the channel then do not show it anymore each time the receiver is turned on then maybe it would not be so bad and still tell people about the extra services that they offer.

Maybe they should just turn off the channel information that pops up each time you change the channel. These two are tied together and last a whole second and a half. Whoopie! ;)

Very true Bobby, but that is valuable info. You get the time the name of the show and the channel number.A banner for dishonline is of no value to me.

Maybe a poll should be started to see how many like/dislike/don't care's there would be.

OH THE HUMANITY!
it's all of three seconds if you are slow on the button. for gods sakes people!!

I agree. I hope they start advertising for Geico, ITT Tech and the General Auto Insurance and others on every channel because lord knows they make no money on those cheap receiver fees.
