You don't have to own your equipment, but customers in an agreement do have to keep minimum programming (Minimum of America's Top 120, DishLATINO Basico, DishAMERICA or an International core programming package)

I just reduced our Top 120 package to the Welcome package and love it! What a great value! Only $20.99 a month including locals (SD abd HD) and DVR. Plus all the freeview channels are received in both SD and HD and we are still receiving Starz free for a year. A great addition to FTA satellite and / or a service such as Netflix.

I was hoping someone from DIRT can help me. I was a Dish Now customer and very happy. I have a seasonal home that I go to about six weeks per year and rent it out occasionally. Anyway, I switched to the Welcome Pack with locals after Dish Now was discontinued.
I'm happy with the Welcome Pack with locals but I see that some in this forum are receiving cinemax for a penny. I was not offered that.....is that something I am eligible for?

Cinemax for one month at no cost to you is the current offer, but can only be offered to accounts with DISH America or higher

Thanks Matthew for the quick response. I have another question as it pertains to my Welcome pack subscription that I was hoping yousomeone might be able to answer. I switched my tv from a standard def to high def tv. I am currently using the hardware provided (301 receiver and Dish 500). I also read that people who have a high def receiver get the local channels in HD. If I purchased at new receiver (Dish 211 or 222) would I get the HD local channels? Is it just a simple switch? Would I have to change the wiring or the dish? Would there be additional costs?

It wouldn't cost any extra, but the dish on the home would need to be changed out most likely.
So long as HD locals are available in your area, and you have the right setup, you would get the HD locals at no additional cost.

Thanks. Would you suggest I contact tech support to see if the dish is okay (the locals are availble in hd in my area)? Would they be able to tell me without sending a tech? If everything is okay, would I just need to call dish and activate the new receiver?
No need to make the phone call, just send me a PM with a phone number or account number, along with the satellites you are currently set up with (menu-6-1-1-check switch to verify)

Should work fine ,assuming your Hd locals will be on 61.5. My aunt has a full western arc dish and the welcome pack and her hd locals are on 129.
I'm still trying to get a grasp on this eastern/western arc thing...for someone to have both 110/119 and 61.5, they would need two different dishes pointed in east (61.5) and west (110/119) directions, right?
Ideally, DISH network wants customers on 1 dish. Western Arc (119,110 & 129) or Eastern Arc (72,77 & 61.5). If you have any combination of these satellites, you have a mixed install. With the 110,119 & 61.5 set-up you will be losing HD programming. We have already moved some to the 4000 channels to help identify these accounts.
but since the only HD on the Welcome Pack is his locals in HD (if applicable) he would be fine with that setup

No, in order to get the NFL Redzone you need the Multi-Sports Package which requires a minimum programming of AT120+. With the Welcome Package, the account will not qualify for Multi-Sports package.
Thanks, everytime I scrall pass the channel, I just wonder......! I hope to get an upgrade of packages in time for football season, I do miss all the multi sports channels.
Is there any limitations on the equipment that can be used with the Welcome Package? Also can a new user signup for this package. I'm trying to get my mom to drop her Comcast service and for what she watches this would be perfect for her but would like to get her something like a 622 and some solo SD box as well. Not asking if all that would be included I would expect extra monthly charges for additional boxes and dvr. Just asking if those can be added.
There's no limitations on equipment, but the Welcome Pack is not available to new subscribers. A DVR would cost $6/month, and an additional receiver would range from $7-$17 a month (a solo non-DVR would be $7)
