NCAA Football 2011-2012

I like your thinking, but your WAY off here.

IF the person programming the computer likes Va Tech then he could easily sway the figures in that direction.
You think once originally programmed, nothing happens with it again ?

Again this point is irrelevant as you would have out side sources see the programming - each team is geared towards numbers - those numbers can be anonymously generated. The programming today is just outstanding with so many different directions you can go so long as the comps are kept off the grid and whats punched in each week as for stats and I mean not just scores but also Total offensive yards, Defensive yards the other team didn't get, etc etc all this being triple entered or inspected however you wish to do it you could control the bias outcome up to 99.999% which is far better than I bet the 20% we now have cause even Nick Saban came out and said for poll voters to pick the best teams - he knows the system is flawed big time with voters not wanting to either pick the best team, not pick a team that has already lost to LSU ( which imo already proves they are not #1) or whatever you want to put it. He along with so many know the system is so flawed you need to take the human factor out and stay to the numbers if it event creates a whole new system with checks and balances.

And you KNOW what goes on with these computers ?

Isn't Nick the one who said a few years ago that a team that didn't win it's conference championship shouldn't go to the BCS championship? Oh yeah, that's when he was on the outside looking in.

Actually that is a rumor at best, and it has zero hard facts to back it up besides posts on random message boards.

This is what was rumored to have been said (it was first seen on wikipedia, and has since been taken down)

"Anyone who doesn't win their conference, has no business playing in the national championship." - Nick Saban in 2003

This is where I think that came from, and its not even close.

I don't think anyone will know who the legitimate national champion is unless all three teams in consideration get the opportunity to play one another," LSU coach Nick Saban said.

Bowled Over By Controversy - CBS News

Bob Stoops actually said something along those lines in 02, perhaps people are getting confused?

http://web.archive.org/web/20080626205949/http://espn.go.com/ncf/news/2002/1106/1456889.html

Stoops said the teams that play for the national title should at least have won a conference championship. Last year, Nebraska made it to the national championship game after not even winning the North Division of the Big 12.

There's been lots of discussion on talk radio around here about that quote. The local newspaper has a column this morning telling about them doing a search for the quote in the published media, and couldn't find it. I retract my statement.

In case this hasn't been answered yet, Luke Fickell will coach the team if they go to a Bowl game.

I've been a proponent of having to be better than .500 to go to a bowl, but thats not the rules yet.

Thanks Jim.

And I agree with your +.500 rule. But I still think the Buckeyes will receive a bowl in some capacity.

Looks at the moment that it will be Florida vs. Ohio State in the Gator Bowl. Could be quite interesting for a bowl game involving 2 6-6 teams.

If Pitt beats syracuse they will be 6-6, IMO I feel they don't deserve a bowl, if you can't have a winning season than you aren't good enough to deserve a bowl.

That goes for any 6-6 team, IMO the whole problem is there are 35 bowls so 70 teams get to play, too many bowl games.

Campaigning for his team. Plain and simple.
Most likely not needed as the voters are already voting them in the top two.

Nope not campaigning for anyone - already know the end result anyway but I would like to see VT play a higher ranked team instead of a big east team that is hardly in the top 20

And yeah I agree if you don't win you're conference you don't deserve to be in the national title game..simple.

So you are ok with the number 1 team in the nation playing the number 3 team in the nation for the title? Just leave number 2 out ?

I agree with EVERYTHING you said here.

WAY too many Bowl games, at this point you pretty much HAVE to include the .500 teams to fill the bowl games.

Big East Expansion?

When will Ohio State get the final resolution from the NCAA?
