AFC

Texans- have clinched AFC South

Patriots- can clinch AFC East with win OR Jets loss
-can clinch playoff berth with Bengals loss AND Titans loss AND Raiders loss

Ravens- can clinch playoff berth with win OR two of the following lose: Jets, Titans, Raiders

Steelers- can clinch playoff berth with win OR one of the following lose: Jets, Titans, Raiders, Broncos

Eliminated- Buffalo, Cleveland, Miami, Jacksonvile, Indianapolis


NFC

Packers- have clinched NFC North AND first round bye
-can clinch homefield advantage with win OR 49ers loss

49ers- have clinched NFC West

Saints- have clinched playoff berth
-can clinch NFC South with win AND Falcons loss

Eliminated- Carolina, Washington, Tampa Bay, Minnesota, St. Louis

So the Steelers will be in when they beat the 49ers and the Pats win !

You only need one of those five things happening and you're in. Basically the Ravens, Steelers and Pats are locks (the Texans are already in).

That leaves the Broncos, Jets, Bengals, Raiders and Titans fighting for two spots (the Chargers are a long shot for the West and have no shot at a wild card).

Even though we are playing in slow motion on offense and like swiss cheese on defense, thanks to the crappy AFC West, we still have a decent shot at the playoffs. Here is first the divisional breakdown, followed by some wildcard scenarios.

Divisional: Right now Denver leads Oakland by a game, and San Diego by two.

If Oakland wins out, they win the division as long as... Denver loses to KC or any two games (doesn't matter which ones)

If Oakland beats Detroit, KC and loses to SD, they win the division as long as... Denver loses out, and San Diego splits their games against BAL and DET.

If Oakland beats Detroit, loses to KC, and beats SD, they win the division as long as... Denver loses out.

If Oakland loses to Detroit, and beats KC and SD, they win the division as long as... Denver loses to either NE/BUF and KC.


Wild Card: Since Pittsburgh/Baltimore have the 5 seed locked up, I am only talking in terms of the 6 seed. Right now the Jets are leading the pack at 8-5 with Oakland, Tennessee, Cincinnati all behind by 1 game.

If Oakland wins out, they sneak into the 6th spot as long as... New York and Tennessee lose one more game each.

If Oakland loses to Detroit, and beats KC and SD, they sneak into the 6th spot as long as... New York loses any 2 games, Cincinnati loses any 1 game, and Tennessee loses 1 game.

If Oakland beats Detroit, and splits KC/SD, they sneak into the 6th spot as long as... New York loses their remaining 3 games, Cincinnati loses two games or just loses to BAL, and Tennessee loses 2 games.

Buffalo is eliminated? There is no way that Buffalo wins there last 3 games and somehow get in? I rooted for Buffalo to play well this year after a decade of crappiness and I thought they were going to make the playoffs.

Even if Buffalo wins the next 3 the Jets swept them.

According to what Bill posted, a Steeler win puts them in.

Or a lose by any of the above mentioned, so its pretty sure for them to get in as a WC, they still have a chance at the Division, but the Ravens would have to lose a game.

Ravens play SD, Cleveland and Cincy yet.
