My wife and I both have iPhone 4Ss now. I've been wanting to get a tablet for a long while now ever since the first iPad came out. What would you guys recommend between the iPad 2 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1?

if you both have Iphones, get the ipad, IMO.

I have a Gtab 10.1, and I love it. My wife was against the whole idea of a tablet, but once she got a hold of it and installed plants vs zombies...I have to schedule time to use my tablet...LOL

I also use an android phone, btw.

Jason, you have iPhone 4S, and mac computers, an iPad is a no brainer. iCloud among your devices (including your mac) provides for total compatibility, and many of your iOS apps on the iPhone will be universal apps for the iPad. And besides that, the iPad is a killer device.

i love android as well but i would go with the iPad. especially since the OP has everything apple already. i've been really satisfied with my iPad. almost got an iPad 2 today but the deal didn't go through. still happy with the original :)

I agree, in an all Apple house, the iPad just is the best choice.

I have an Android phone, and there is little if any support for it in OSX. No sync, nada pretty much!

I'm debating on whether to get an iPad 2 within the next few weeks or wait for the iPad 3 since it's rumored to come out sometime early next year.

I just bought a replacement iPad 2 (work technically owned the one I had), and I decided that 1) its likely that the price might go up on the iPad 3 given the retina display; 2) I don't need it right now, the iPad 2 is amazing; and 3) when I HAVE TO HAVE IT, I can most likely sell my iPad 2 for a pretty decent price. AND the real question is how long do you want to wait for it? Will it be out in February? March?

And when it comes out, how soon before the next best model comes out?

I have the original iPad that I bought within the first week of their release. I have yet to see one single thing that the iPad2 has that I would use that I don't already have on my iPad 1. That's not to say there aren't things, just none that I consider all that important or would use.

Going thru the same thing. Wife expressed interest, and we went to the store, but decided to wait until ?March? to get the next model. Meanwhile, she will be issued one at work to use in the library, and can get horsed up on it. Then when the iPad Next comes out, we can decide to pay full freight for it, or get a (presumably) reduced price iPad 2

Ipad 3 will be on my list. But for now I've enjoyed my HP Touchpad dual boot (WEBOS & Android)

I would not be surprised if the iPad 3 has a higher price tag, and they keep the iPad 2 out at close to the same price. One of the rumors months ago, was that the 3 would be called the iPad HD, and would carry a higher price tag for the retina display. Time will tell.

Do you think a retina display on it would make it significantly superior to the iPad 2?

The retina display on the iPhone was a noticeable improvement. I don't recall anymore if the apps had to be changed to take advantage of it.

The idea of doubling the screen resolution is hard to imagine, but for some of the photo-editing apps, I think it could be spectacular. That said, I doubt I'll be upgrading anytime soon.

My wife & I decided to wait and see what the iPad 3 has to offer since we weren't in a hurry to purchase.
