DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

Why would a Directv or cable customer go out of their way to tell Dish to keep AMC? Maybe some small fraction are cable or Directv customers but I don't buy into this conspiracy theory. Let's look at the simplest solution here. Most people asking Dish to keep the AMC channels are probably going to be Dish customers.
Stop making sense.

AMC apparently started running scrolls last night to try and pressure Dish, so Dish is returning the favor by moving the channels to a less favorable position in the lineup. Just a multi million dollar chess game. ;)
I've seen those same types of announcements from other networks that were close to being cut by Dish. It's SOP in these situations. But, this is the first time I remember Dish moving the channels to no man's land before cutting them.

It's not the usual chess game. This time, after AMC made a standard move, Dish knocked over the board, crossed its arms, and started pouting. It's not a pretty sight.

It's the nature of Facebook. Any Dish customer pissed off enough to post their complaints to Dish on Facebook will also rally their Facebook "friends" to champion their cause, whether they are Dish subs or not. Mob mentality. I'm not saying that the majority wouldn't be Dish customers, but it's a plausible reason for a non-Dish customer to be going out of their way.

Ok, I'll stop now. :)

The word you are thinking of is spelled s-t-a-r-t, not s-t-o-p.

True. Facebook and Twitter are echo chambers producing nothing but noise. Something that impacts or bothers 1000 people gets repeated and retweeted by 10,000 and then by 100,000. Never with thought or commentary or discussion or questions...just thoughtless repetition...empty echoes at the click of a frowny icon.

That's why forums like this will always be more useful than "social media" widgets.

But...I wonder how far corporations like Dish are in figuring this out? The numbers from something like this may still frighten them but at some point people will realize that 1000 te-tweets or "likes" is NOT the same as 1000 letters or 1000 calls or 1000 posts about something and it certainly doesn't mean 1000 people are going to buy/sell subscribe/quit something.

Since it appears you are being serious, I'll bite. I've seen it in action. I'm not on Facebook but my wife is. She's constantly commenting to me on how often one of her FB friends will say "jump", and many do, thinking they are helping out a friend...you know, one of the 174 friends you haven't seen in 20 years and really wouldn't be a "friend" if it weren't for Facebook. It's pathetic.

To hell with iTunes..... I have HDTV's for watching TV on a TV.

I do not watch TV or movies on my iPhone, tablet or PC.

I'm paying for the AMC channels already, Dish won't lower the monthly fee to compensate for the loss. So I'm still paying for something I'm not getting anymore.
I will not go to some stupid iTunes internet nonsense and PAY AGAIN to see the things I'm paying for elsewhere.

Now Dish Network is STEALING from me. They are taking money from me and not delivering the thing I'm paying for. That's theft, plain and simple.

I checked in the guide and found that one of the channels they substituted was some barbarian males bashing each other even more stupid than they were yesterday. Guys kicking each other and beating each other to bloody pulps.
WTF????????? REALLY??????????

NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Subscribers should be compensated, I lost my Mad Men timer when they moved the channel. I can understand where Dish is coming from but this is all about greed on both sides and we the consumers are getting screwed. and adding a stupid channel such as Destination America or is this a renamed channel? that show re-runs of shows that were on other channels doesn't cut the mustard. And as for AMC I have better things to do with my life than go online or call Dish to go fight for you. Considering Mad Men is all I watch on AMC and next sunday is the season finale, I can always watch it elsewhere. If it continues into next season I still have my Bell TV dish.

A fb comment is no different than a forum post. And, there are bound to be more than 1000 comments posted about this debacle on Dish' fb page before it's over.

I guess that means the customers that like AMC are low quailty customers too. Yea great response!

Wow is all I can say, Who came up with that line!

You only have to like something once on FB. Then you have it liked until you go in and unlike it. Most of those that liked it didn't do it recently. I just left a comment on FB on the Dish page and told AMC to bite me. So to speak. That they are going to loose a possible 14 million sets of eyes and wanted to know how long their advertisers are going to put up with that?
