You can't tell much from the blowouts or often the ones that should be blowouts, but many of the top 25 really showed nothing last weekend. Bama deserved it since they at least played a viable opponent and were impressive. LSU may have ended up dominating but I don't think they looked that good doing it. Oregon ended up giving up a lot of points but they pulled in the reins early in the 2nd quarter and pulled their top 2 players in the 1st. USC deserved to fall since they kept in their first unit well into the 3rd qtr which really wasn't necessary - although I was surprised Hawaii didn't show up with more offense. Oklahoma and Georgia showed little or nothing. South Carolina better keep Lattimore healthy or they're toast. Vandy just needs to learn how to win as they play hard and are well coached.

As usual, they give Boise no credit at all for playing a good game under adverse conditions (new qb, travel 1/2 way across country), barely losing and their opponent profits and they are dropped out while a Michigan team that was embarrassed loses little or nothing. Stanford at 25? I guarantee you Boise wouldn't have let San Jose State stay in the game that long. And many of you wonder why some of us disdain these bogus polls.

Huh? Boise dropped from 24 to the top "received votes team" which would put them at 26 in the AP, and from 22 to 25 in the Coaches poll. Michigan dropped 11 spots in both. It sure seems like Boise was treated fairly by the pollsters, as was Michigan.

Michigan State is ranked 11th (from 13th) and was lucky to get out with the win, so a team ranked 11 positions below didn't hold up their end?. Michigan was never in the game and completely outclassed. Major difference. You were one that didn't have any problem with Alabama staying at #2 after losing at home to LSU last year, so why should a team that goes toe to toe with a much higher ranked team lose ground instead of gaining? Boise looked better in the loss than most of the top 25 did in their wins.

I fail to see the big rub here. It was a close game between two ranked opponents (although several spots apart in the lower part of the poll), and neither moved much from their previous spots in response. The one that won moved up a couple of meaningless slots, and one that lost moved down a couple of meaningless slots (they even stayed in the top 25 in the poll that counts int he BCS).

So sure, MSU benefited, but not that much. Sure Boise lost out, but not that much. What would you have had them do? Drop MSU and move Boise up? Not likely to happen at any point in the season, much less right at the beginning.

Michigan plummeted in getting handily beaten. Yet, your previous comments read like Boise got the short end of the stick in comparison, and Michigan got the benefit of the doubt. I just do not see it.

Some Aggie fans have big brass ones, Ill give them that. The school is not so amused however.

Lol. Their last national championship was in 1938, last conference championship was in 1998.

Trying winning something before you talk crap.

Either MSU would have been considered to underperform or Boise considered to have performed above expectations because of the closeness of the game. So, if MSU moved up, then Boise should have either at least retained their status or even moved up with a stellar performance. If the ratings are to have any credibility (which I still believe they don't) then the movement should be based on performance not bias which is obviously rampant in these polls. The other basis for my argument is just as I stated - the majority of the top 25 were at best mediocre last weekend, some very poor performances, so dropping a team that performed well is not in keeping with any sense of rationality. I felt Boise was ranked 24th (there lowest in many years) because they were any unknown quantity after losing the nucleus of their team. After last weekend, they are no longer unknown and while not the most talented or deepest of teams, they have a coach that will keep them in games against anyone no matter how outmanned they may appear to be. This can't be said for a lot of the teams in the top 25. I guarantee you if they were scheduled against any of the top 25 next week, Las Vegas would have them as the favorite over more than 1/2 of them.

Haha, I wonder if the fans in charge will do it in every town? Nothing wrong with getting a little rivalry fire going.

They need an extra dose of that SEC speed!

Michigan dropped 10 spots? Weren't they ranked like #6 or something. How were they not hurt? Boise State was 24 and dropped out of the top 25.. What was wrong with that?

It was based on performance. Boise lost the ONLY game on their schedule with a ranked opponent. So they moved down. When you lose you move down. That is kind of how it works. You only dropped what 2-3 spots?

Everyone who won last week either stayed the same or moved up slightly. Everyone who lost dropped. Thats kind of how it works. Or should we just use judgement "Style" points. I mean OkSt should be number one since they scored 84 points right......

I think the polls are semi ok here but as I said its too early to put numbers on people - this is only for the media.

This coming weekend looks to have a few good games but the meat of schedules are 4-5 weeks in for most.

Heck yeah!:D We held the opposition scoreless and our starting freshman QB only needed to play 6 minutes to rack up 28pts  while our 4th string running back was the leading scorer.

Like this article states, the fans are growing tired of paying for these mismatched affairs too.

Washington's helmet just fell off while under the pile - I could see him pretty good from my seat and it just came off. What was dumb that it seemed that Johnson looked like he was arguing about it to the refs after they finally pushed him off the field but rules are rules - keep the helmet on.

Thats my point, they make a stupid rule up to keep people from showboating and because a guyn on the bottom of a pile ends up without his hat on, he has to sit... stupid rule, should have to show intent of showboating or taunting for it to be a penalty.

I'm guessing that it was fans that put it up, having NOTHING to do with the school.
