Hopper S229 / S230 Feedback!

Scott Greczkowski said:
Well after a long wait the new software started rolling out last night! And with all the new features (including OTA Support) you are going to say the wait was worth it! :)

Make sure you check our Hopper forum for details of all the new features and improvements. There is also one more big improvement that I didn't write about... and I am hoping one our SatelliteGuys members will find it and report it. :D

If you know other people or sites that would be interested in our info, please send them links to our coverage so they can learn as well. (Or as I say learn from the best!) :D

So lets hear your S229 feedback!

Did anyone with the update figure out the other feature scott hinted at? I am curious as to what it is and since I did not get the update I can't find out for myself yet.

Re: Hopper S229 Feedback!

I don't think this releaseis in wide distribution. I was installed the first weekend hopper was released and this is supposedly the 2nd night the software download has been available, but no update here.

Logic would dictate I have a low serial number as well. Show of hands, those of you who are posting about receiving, are you beta testers or in an early adoption group.

Re: Hopper S229 Feedback!

In another thread, Scott says this:

And to answer John's questions yes I am still seeing the glitches at the top and bottom of the hour even with the new software. ?

I have a feeling its something in the data stream.

I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling that this can be fixed by Dish. We're more than 8 months in and the problem still exists.

It is now fair to ask these questions:

1) Do they know what the cause of the problem is!? Not the solution, but why it is occurring.

2) Where is this bug in their priority list?

3) Are there any resources assigned to addressing the issue?

4) Do they write this code in house or is this contracted out to a third party?

Not meaning to be a downer, but I'm very frustrated by how long this one has been out there.

Yeah, I had that issue with a 1H/2J install. Swapped out the hopper. Then checked all client side connections, replaced splitter and solo node. After all that, I called my IM and was told that two other techs were experiencing the same issue. My manager was told that a fix would ready overnight and he would send us back out to setup the joeys. I have my doubts that it is fixed so soon, but we'll see. My customer won't be available until Friday, hopefully the problem will be fixed by then.

\On new installs it makes it worse the Hoppas are not downloading Joey software and Dish is reporting there is no fix at this time.

Again let me post what I posted earlier...

There were no reports of these issues reported during the testing.

A lot of issues were fixed. :)

Scott, the lost program problem may have never been reported during testing, but it has been reported many times in this and other places. I have personally reported it here, via a telecon with Dish Support and email with Dish support. Maybe there's a deficiency in Dish's testing methodology.

BTW I have always received updates during the second night after release but I didn't get them this time.

As mentioned for faster navigation the drop-down menus and other selectable buttons throughout the user interface now have a background color to correlate with the color shortcut keys on the Hopper remote. Also something new with the game finder app... Unfortunately I do not watch enough sports to notice what the added features are. Did the previous version show the score of other games that are also on at that time?

[h=4]Anyone see this????

Dish Network's Hopper gets an off-air digital TV tuner, software update packing new features[/h]By Alexis Santos posted Nov 14th 2012 5:02AM

If recording satellite television using one of Dish Network's Hopper systems left you longing for something a little more terrestrial, there's good news: the firm just unveiled an off-air digital tuner that's compatible with its marsupial-themed hardware. For those eager to record broadcasts picked up with an antenna, the OTA dongle is already available for $30 from Dish's online store. A freshly released software update not only adds support for the hardware, but also brings a raft of new features to the Hopper. With the update, users can now pair Bluetooth audio devices with the DVR, gaze at album art onSiriusXM channels and recover deleted recordings from a recycle bin that saves nixed footage for 48 hours. The box's "Prime Time Anytime" feature now supports standard definition local channels, and a new "What's Hot" section clues users into what other folks are watching locally and nationwide. For nitty gritty details, screenshots and impressions of the OTA module, tap the source links below.

Did you set the timers as save PTAT or regularly from the guide? I've never lost a PTAT episode on a timer set from the guide.

My timers were set from the guide (record all new), and I've been having this issue since I got the hopper. As mentioned from another poster, it seems to happen randomly with various shows.

Are these PTAT shows that are being lost ones that are recorded under PTAT, but that also have a normal timer set? Meaning with a normal timer set, it should be dumped after 8 days?

Im just wondering, because i kinda planned to use PTAT, BUT go in every day or two and manually save the ones I actually want to watch.
