Twins fire 3 coaches and reassigning 2 today
gone is 3rd base coach, 1st base coach and bullpen coach (he was with team for 35 years)
reassigned hitting coach and one other guy

Gardy still has a job...for now

Gardy will stay I think, unless he wants out.

A STOLEN base is more important that an RBI ?

Thats where this article LOST me.

OK,
Now I got it ....

The WAR fans don't like the Old Time stats because THIER guy isn't winning in it.

RBI's mean nothing ?
To me that means your clutch, they should add the RISP in as well.

Pitchers Wins and ERA don't mean anything either.

Thats pretty much what I've grown up knowing stat wise that those are the important numbers in baseball and because they don't fit thier man, they don't mean anything.

Haha that wasn't a real article, although it was long enough to be one. That was just a post written by me explaining how they are trying to claim Trout is the MVP. I think they are dead wrong but that is their reasoning. I agree that RBI are important. They say that's not an individual stat but a team stat though. They say batting with guys on third and no outs has a lot more to do with RBI than individual player skill. They say that stolen bases are 100% individual so they claim that is a more important stat when choosing a player for an individual award. They say the players with the best WAR should get the MVP and Cy Young automatically with no writer opinion involved.

I enjoy looking at these stats but I think it's crazy to say it should be decided by a math equation. One problem I have with WAR is that it isn't even a real stat. Different sabermetric websites have different formulas to figure their WAR number and they don't agree on them. If it's not even a consistent stat between backers of it how can it be the end all be all of baseball? It is an absolute joke if Cabrera doesn't win the MVP this year.

The Tigers lead MLB in local tv ratings this season. The top five were Tigers, Reds, Cardinals, Pirates, and Red Sox. The bottom five teams were Astros, Angels, Athletics, Cubs, and Padres. Keep in mind that these are in order of TV ratings not total viewers. They Yankees had the highest average number of total viewers but they also have the largest market and population is used to determine ratings.

Verlander gives up a HR to the first batter, which he's done often this year ...
Had the Camera well not been there , it would have been off the wall. :(

Why are we continuing to post here instead of the postseason thread?

Sent from my Jailbroken iPhone 3GS using SatelliteGuys

I just thought because its a AL central team that would be ok

I was thinking the same thing...Jimbo, satjay...here or in the MLB Playoff thread?

I will post in the postseason, not a big deal....other the HR Avila just Hit!

On a AL central note looks like the Indians have a new manager, Terry Francona

Having never stayed with a Tigers game till the 9th I found Valverde's spitting, snorting, squatting antics very offensive. He's a thug that belongs in the NHL or NBA as far as I'm concerned. That s%^$t really bothers me. NO ONE IS BIGGER THAN THE GAME!

Tito deserves a better organization. He should have waited instead of grabbing the 1st team. I wish him well!!!!

I agree...

Theres a possibility that the Tigers position will be open soon ...
If the Tigers Bomb or Win it all, I wouldn't be surprised if Leyland moves on, retiring or otherwise.

Would have loved to get Francona to take his place .... Maybe Socia will be available by then.

I thought the same in the beginning, but as it turns out, thats just the way he is, everyone has thier own little quirks, thats his.

I don't really like it, but teams all know what to expect by now, he's been that way since he came in.

Sadly looks like the Tigers are again interested in Stephen Drew at SS and moving Peralta along.

I really don't like this idea, 1st, Drews D is NOT AS caliber like some are making it sound in the media and 2nd, Drew hits about .220, Peralta at least hits around .250-.260.

If they are gonna do that, they could easily SAVE money and use Danny Worth and have the same batting avg and at least the same D and platoon him with Santiago ...

Better option yet, go out and GET a top SS or someone at least better than Drew.

The kid from Cleveland is available as is the guy in KC, both in my opinion would be better than Drew.
