NFL 2012-13 Season

Let's face it...life is not fair and the MVP is a popularity contest. Manning is going to win this year and there is nothing that can be said or done to prevent it. Heck, Detroit's Johnson set a single season reception record surpassing Jerry Rice...and I don't believe he is even being mentioned in the Top 10 candidates.

If AP didn't crack 2k yards and the Vikings missed the playoffs I think CJ would get OPOY. I expect he'll get a few votes, probably from any voters that try and give some love to all three, something like AP comeback player, CJ offensive player and Manning MVP.

MVP is generally also tied to team accomplishments, of which the Lions had few.

Broncos are the favorites but with and 11 game winning streak is due to come to an end but with everything Manning has went through you have to root for him or The Colts and their coach :)

See ya later Knapp! As well as our very bad Special Teams, LB and OL coach...though the LB crew was not as bad as they looked, but could not coach them up.

Being the #1 overall pick gives Manning the built in media hype advantage for MVP and Pro Bowl voting.

I'm guessing you meant #1 seed, rather than when he was drafted more than a decade ago? Something earned, not just given? Ask the Texans how easy that was to hooks on to... Those are accolades, not hype.

Nope I meant #1 pick. He's been a media darling since day 1. It feeds in to the awards and accolades. Some how his post season failures and his unwillingness to accept the blame for those are taboo for the media to ever mention.

Because in the simpleton media minds, there's no way a guy drafted in the 6th round could ever be better than a stud drafted 1st overall with his bloodline.

I have nothing against Manning. He's obviously a first ballot HOF, but the part I highlighted is the part that has always had me perplexed. Brady has ALWAYS taken the blame for his teamamtes when the Patriots have failed in the playoffs. IMO, it's one of the big reasons why the Pats offensive line has been among the NFL's best for over a decade......they have Brady's back.

Coaching Carousel begins...

Lovie Smith fired from Bears
Chan Gailey fired from Bills
Andy Reid fired from Eagles
Shurmur and Heckert fired from Browns
Tannebaum Fired from Jets
Romeo Crennel fired from Chiefs
Adam Shefter reports that the Chargers aren't interested in Reid.

Officially add Norv Turner
Ken Whisanhunt also got the axe.

I look at it this way, if you put an average QBS in Denver, they more than likely, win the division. If you take AD from Minnesota, they may win 6-7 games...and they have no playoff chances.

I would give the slight nod to AD. As far the Manning vs. Brady...Brady is been such a consistent machine that people at what he does and say, "so what, it's Brady.. He does it all the time...". Which to me is unfair... But that is what high expectations do.

Not comparing him to Michael Jordan, it but its similar when Barkley and Karl Marlone won it....

Who is AD?

I wouldn't be so sure. I think it may go to Peterson, especially if he garners sympathy votes for just missing the record.

So, what do you blame for Bradys' hype and accolades? His purtiness?

Just wondering ....

Now that Whisanhunt has been fired ....
Whats the chances that the Steelers give him a call and see if he's interested in working as OC with Big Ben in Pittsburgh again ?

Everyone knows that Haley and Ben haven't seen eye to eye and with the Steelers not making the Playoffs ...

I dunno.imo it would be a good move.I'm sure Whisanhunt will get hired somewhere soon.Whis was a little miffed when the Steelers passed him and Grimm over for Tomlin though.

True, but , as you know, both are no longer in the position they left for.

It would be a GREAT move for them If he would come back.
However, the Steelers are never one to OVER Pay for someone and I think they MIGHT have to to get him.
For that matter, see if they are both interested, could use a good O Line coach as well. (Grimm)

I don't think Whiz would be in a great position to demand a huge contract. If Pitt really wants him I'm sure they could get him.I just don't think they will axe Haley so soon.
