This is a good starter package! I bought the same package except it came with the Micro HD receiver. This is a solid kit, and a solid site to order from. The guy has an actual website too besides his ebay site.

I have been satisfied with my purchase, and it is easy to install. I am an FTA n00b too, and I installed it and set everything up with a cheap $30 meter as well. You made a good choice. I know the Micro HD receiver can be upgraded via Galaxy 19, and I think the receiver that came with your order does too. You can also update firmware via USB port.

Cheers

A few posts back, they told me to get this and i bought it but now i'm being told this is not complete? so what else (parts) do i need to get? links are appreciated. sad chickie.

The kit comes with coax and all the basic install items to get you going. I did not use the coax that came with mine, as I upgraded to RG-6 Quad Shield. The kit comes with plain RG-6 which is better than RG-59. No worries there. It comes with the stuff you need to ground your dish, and coax. If you have it on order, I wouldn't worry about it, and just keep it cause it will serve you well. I know you will like it once you get it all setup.

I don't know why it would not be complete...it looks all there to me. It is just a different receiver than the Micro HD. Both receivers are made by GeoSat Pro anyway.

I guess when I get it, I will make a brave attempt to set it up and if i get stuck i'll start a video chat on tinychat and call you guys in to help this damsel in distress!

You might call them and ask if they have any MicroHD receivers in stock, and see if it can be swapped out. That is the receiver to get, as the HDVR 1200 appears to be for Glorystar only, and not FTA. I think that SatelliteAV is a member here.

Having had the hdvr1200 it can do both glorystar and fta as it will ask you to choose which setup you want I agree I would call satellite av and see which receiver it will be shipped with

TheHamNerd, You are correct about the company and equipment. :D Very good equipment and technical support!

Your microHD has an Ali chipset and the Ali chipsets provide superior SD picture quality. Very smooth deinterlace and conversion. The Novatek chipsets such as used in the X2 Premium, SYNOQ SR1 and HDVR1200 do not upscale SD video very well to be displayed on HD 720p, 1080i or 1080p output. The Novatek chipset deinterlace mode produces jaggies and a microblocking effect in fine detail areas that is not present with the Ali chipsets. The HDVR1200 is both Glorystar or Hobbyist mode enabled. The dish and LNBF are both top quality and construction and some of the best consumer hardware available.

chickiehaute, You should call first thing in the AM before the system ships and ask if you could switch packages. If no microHDs are in stock, downsize the package and you might add the install kit to the Dish/LNBF kit as it provides all of the cables and grounding and miscellaneous parts for installing the system. I am sure that they would be more than accommodating of your request, since you are still buying the majority of the supplies from them. The mini HD SE install will be just as easy to install and members are here to help with any questions!

I don't understand, can you explain please?
It says:
GEOSATpro microHD M1 FTA Complete HD DVR Satellite System Satellite
Currently Shipping with GEOSATpro HDVR 1200
Why would it say microHD but ships as GEOSATpro HDVR 1200?
So HDVR is not an accessory it's another type of receiver?
Why would it even mention the microHD then? It's misleading????

I just wrote to them:
I purchased this system

GEOSATpro microHD M1 FTA Complete HD DVR Satellite System Satellite

Currently Shipping with GEOSATpro HDVR 1200

However, is it possible to get the microHD as I was under the impression this setup could be used for FTA and I'm being told the HDVR only does Glorystar only?

I was referred to your post from satelliteguys.us - hope you can help me as i am a n00b and want to get FTA. Thanks!

I need to clock some zzz's will catch up with posts in the a.m. Thanks Folks!

Yes especially if you are going to use the receiver for G19, you for sure don't want the 1200. Good receiver other wise, but the up-scaling of SD on the 1200, leaves a lot to be desired.

ok sweet, good to know, thank you. the ebay seller did not get back to me yet, so I will wait and see. It's a minor investment, not a big deal but if they can't swap the receivers out, can I modify or do an usb update / patch? What's available? or do I have to get a different receiver altogether?

They may not see your email in time, you should call them ASAP. They are on Pacific Time.

The info in Post #52 above, by Titanium, will tell them what you need.
