I probably know better than asking this question, but has anyone heard when the new Manhattan DJ-1997 will be in stock? I know the DJ-1997 was released the first of March, but a few weeks later, nobody has these in stock to sell yet; and the Manhattan retailer websites show nothing. Are they still sitting on the ship?? Any guesses as to how much they will cost? I saw one website wanting to sell them for $300, which is a little high for me. :-/

Hi, Jeff told me yesterday that they air shipped in a few a hundred they should be here by Friday. The cost will be around $110 to $150 depending which dealer you buy from. :)

An advance air shipment of receivers will be in by Wednesday 3/25....ahead of a container shipment due in after the end of April. Global is taking orders now for a very limited number of receivers from this first batch. Specifications and pictures can be found at www.global-cm.net

Thanks for all of your help on this. I am anxiously hoping to get the new 1997 receiver soon as I can. I am already halfway through upgrading my 1.2M C-Band dish to a new Stab HH 120 motorized unit on the roof. It was pretty chilly strenuous work this past Sunday, but at least I wasn't getting dive bombed to death from bees and wasps in the heat. I have to finish aligning the dish and motor to a good known C-Band satellite and transponder using my new First Strike SE satellite finder; then redo the cable run. This next weekend is going to be just as cold, but I am on track with the alignment. After it is set up and locked in, looking to get a bunch more C-band channels from 4+ other satellites instead of just the one! :)

Update...due to some shipping/documentation snags across the pond, the advance air freight shipment was delayed a few days, and is now expected to hit Wisconsin on or about April 1 (no joke). Apologies for the delay, which was out of Manhattan-Digital's hands. Advance orders still being taken---if you don't get one of these first units ordered now, there will be more on the regular ocean freight shipment about one month later. If you want one from the first shipment, contact me ASAP.

Mike, thanks for the greatly appreciated info! I already have the 1997 receiver on order from Skyvision with some other stuff i need. I should hopefully get it by mid April at the latest. If it falls apart on me at the last minute I will let you know. :) I got my motorized C-Band dish project pretty much finished up last weekend. All that's left to do is hook up the reciever, fine tune the signals and bring in channels from 4 different satellites. :-D

Would be interested in how you made out with your 1.2m dish on C band. Few years back I experimented with 39 inch offset dish fitted with a dual C/LNB and H-H motor. Got some channels on 99W, 91W. Is your dish prime or offset focus?

Good luck with your installation, hope it works well for you.

I am using a Geosatpro 1.2M offset focus dish, with a Titaium PLL LNBF and conical scaler. I've been getting excellent results with 99W C-Band when the dish was stationary parked on it. I finally got tempted enough to put a Stab 120 motor on it, first results are good so far with 121W, and 89W, just need to spend more time with it on a sunny clear day. Thats what a week of paid vacation is good for when the receiver comes in. I pretty much have it peaked at about 85% intensity and 67-70% quality, I can maybe tweak with the elevation a bit more to be sure that's all I can get. I've been having good results living in Kentucky where the signal footprints tend to be pretty strong with the satellites I want to look at. I'm happy with another handful or two of channels to watch. :)

Sounds like you're doing very well. I fooled with a stationary 6 foot dish a few years ago and spent the whole summer turning it at different satellites. Some are circularly polarized like 40.5W. I think I might try a 4 footer like you have with a motor.

You are an inspiration. And yes, vacation days are fun when spent with a dish pointed at the Clarke Belt. It's sort of like fishing, the dish is your pole and the sky is the sea, and you move your bait around for nibbles hi hi.

Thanks for the great post and information. Good luck to you.

Thank you so very much! :) It's next to rare to ever hear I might be an inspiration, most usually all I hear is how I always do everything completely wrong with my setup, like it's some kind of perfection contest of some kind. When I got ready to delve into FTA in early 2014, my original budget was $300. It has soared easily since then to $1,200+. Granted the best correct way to do C-Band is with a good 10+ foot dish. But if you want to do some half decent C-Band watching depending on where you live, a 1.2M dish can get the job done for you with a PLL LNB and conical scaler. You can find the most decent priced 1.2M Geosatpro dish on Ebay at Satellite AV, even the shipping is reasonable and arrives at your door in a box truck. I liked the way you compare satellite watching with fishing, never really thought of it that way! LOL! Thank you for the nice compliments, I trust you will have good luck with the Geosatpro dish, it's highly praised among FTA enthusiasts. Beware of people trying to sell you a used commercial dish that was hoisted off someone's business roof or other commercial property, it's best to buy new and legal; there's no guilt that way. :) I wanted to go with a 6 foot C-Band dish originally, but my wife was firmly against it, she barely let me get away with a 4 foot dish, as long as I used an existing roof mount, which I did. I removed the old Dish Network antenna that was no longer in use, and swapped it out for the motorized 4 foot one. It's the last install my wife will let me do, she says 3 satellite dishes on the roof is more than plenty for her. :-D

Is the USB port on the back only for wifi, or could it be used for a storage device to enable the DVR function?

If I got a Manhattan DJ-1997, needing to have a thumb drive or hard drive cable plugged into the front would annoy me. I would use hardwired Ethernet, so I would not need a wireless adapter on the rear USB port.

Well, I really shouldn't say anything on here. I almost didn't respond since I will get slammed hard again for having all the wrong answers but..........I heard the USB port on the back of the receiver is only for the use of the USB WiFi Antenna and nothing else . So you will have to use the USB port on the front to record/playback video. The front USB Port is also used to backup your receiver which includes firmware and all of your satellite scan listings to your USB Flash Drive. I know having a cable hanging from the front would annoy you, but often times with FTA, we can't always have everything. :)

HUH?????

Guys sattalk live is on so now would be a good time to call in and ask Mike Kohl questions one might have about this receiver.

I don't think it is on satellite anymore. Go to the link I posted for listen links Most Wednesday nights at 9PM EST.

Does the DJ-1997 do internet IPTV or is it satellite-delivered IPTV? Sure would be nice to have a receiver to cut out all of the runaround to watch satellite-delivered IPTV streams, but I have a feeling this DJ-1997 is just a FTA receiver with a internet IPTV feature.

From what I understand, the 1997 reciever is capable of getting Internet IPTV programs, it is still being worked on though, so I haven't touched it. The firmware and software is still being worked on so IPTV will function alot better; as well as alot of other improvements with the video and audio. It will be at least another month or so away yet before the updates are posted to the website. I don't use or experiment with IPTV myself, so I really can't tell you much about it or how it works with this reciever. I only use one 1997 reciever for KU and the other 1997 reciever for C-Band viewing; both are motorized. So far, the blind scans are more thorough than the A3, with more channels being detected with NO channel repeats; I ran a side by side comparison several times! :)

What do you mean "no channel repeats"? What satellite does this happen on? Channel examples? Do these duplicates have different frequencies, symbol rates, polarities, PIDs, etc.? What additional channels does it log?
