Yep that's the problem. Just turning it off I lose the schedule and it doesn't record. I imagine from that error I had on the filesystem that the firmware upgrade trashed the internal drive or something. As long as I keep the box running anything I set works. But when I turn it off nothing is saved, and when I turn it back on it's an empty system. So I guess I either have a worthless box or I have to leave it running 24/7.

Any ideas on a fix?

As long as we identify the exact issue, it's going to be corrected. We have new firmware, i will post it soon.

Oh okay. I was assuming it was an issue with my box and the firmware messed the hard drive up or something. None of my system settings will save beyond turning off the box. But if it's a firmware issue that can be solved with an update I'll hang tight ( and just not turn off my box, lol )

I've upgraded to 1297 and I no longer can schedule record. I get an error message stating "Failed to add to the recording schedule" when I attempt to complete the schedule record timer process.

I've had the same problem. Once recordings fail, but recurring recordings work So just set a recurring schedule and then delete it after it runs. Also dont turn off your machine, none of my recordings will save.

I was tuning a FTA Mexican satellite channel while doing my complete arc scan and saw something for the first time that I haven't seen before -- it required a child-lock password to watch and it wasn't an adult or premium channel.

I don't use my HDVR3500 for recordings (yet) so I don't know what could be causing this issue. My thought was ratings ceiling but I don't recall having set those (if it's do-able in the software config).

make sure set 18 years old in parental controls. If in doubt, send me a picture of the parental control settings in Menu > Settings > Parental Control.

Looks like things "self-fixed". I turned on my receiver, update 1311 installed, then after the reboot I went to check the parental control. It was set to "system lock - on" and age was set to 18.

I tuned the channel in question and it popped right in without needing a child lock password.

Since 1311 installed right upon turn on, I don't know what 1267 or whatever would have had in the parental control section before the update.

I'm thinking about getting started on using the recording capability of this receiver.

I have a new in box 1TB hard drive that I will dedicate to recordings. Since info is spread throughout this thread, please summarize some things for me, like:

- Use rear or front USB port or it doesn't matter which port?
- Will NTFS formatted drive work or does it have to be FAT32?
- Any other "watch for..." or "do this..."?

Thanks.

Please use any port.
Please use NTFS or FAT32. We recommend FAT32 only for system drive when connecting internally due to the way the operating system boots.
Please make sure you are scheduling an event that is not immediately coming up, because if it's in very short time from the time you are scheduling it can cause the logic failure.

If your receiver is on the local network, you can connect to it from Windows by simply typing into address field of the windows explorer \\192.168.0.xxx\share - basically your \\yourIPaddress\share format and it will show your drives in the windows. Make sure rename both the .TS file and .IDX to identical name (except extension) - because IDX means index that points to actual file.

You are ready to enjoy. let me know if you run into any issues, your reports are extremely valuable to making this receiver better.

The default "recording time" is set to 2 hours, if you want to change that, please go to Menu > Settings > Recording Option and change it to 15min, 30min 1h or switch to manual, so you can set the recording length every time when hitting Record button.

Thank you,
Eugene

1311 fixed it for me. Is there anyway to schedule a recording for Thursday of this week and Thursday of next week, same time and same channel? I leaving for (2) weeks. Thanks.

Just go to Schedule (Timers) and press the LEFT arrow to go directly to a weekday (in the MODE).
Select Thursday - that means the timer is for every Thursday.
Set the Time and SAVE and EXIT.

You should keep that timer if it's your favorite show.

I just assumed that since I set it for this Thursday and it displayed the date as 1-21-2016, that it wouldn't record again on Thursday 1-28-2016 without resetting the timer. Also can I power off the receiver(stand by) and still get it to record on Thursdays with a timer set?

Everything appears to be working for me on the 1311 update. I tested "once" and all the recurring methods and it all set up. I turned off the machine and restarted and all my scheduling was saved.

Thanks a bunch. The machine has been awesome even with the few quirks, I've found away around them every time, but it's great to have it work the right way. Will report back if I find any other bugs, your response time has been stellar, much higher than I ever expected.
