I have been asking the same thing as I have an international setup. No one seems to know how to integrate 95 with all 5 locations to include 4k. I did hear a solution is coming, but it seems to be at least 6 months off from it. I know one thing once that first reverse band channel lights up, I will be calling for an upgrade and I expect to get all of my programming.

Edited, I have the need for all orbital locations as I sub to Korea, Spanish, and English programming in HD.

You won't get it, because there is NO technical solution at the moment for people who need all the orbital locations and the reverse band. The reason no-one knows how to do it is that it can't currently be done. Maybe by the time you need it, there will be a solution.

April 7th we will be installing reverse 3s to all customers that generate a 4k work order. Do not call prior to that date if you want to be garenteed a revband. No I do not have any additional info on the release of rev5. Maybe those will ship with our 3s.

Edit... it appears my warehouse is only set to receive rev3. In prep of apr7th launch

This is awesome I cant wait. Be nice to have some content even though I know it wont be much.

Probably not the correct thread for these questions, but I don't see them asked anywhere else.

1. What 4K format will the TV need to accept?
4K/60 4:4:4 8-bit
4K/60 4:2:0 8-bit/10-bit
4K/30 4:4:4 or 4:2:0 8-bit/10-bit
4K/24 4:4:4 or 4:2:0 8-bit/10bit

I hope it is anything except 4K/60 4:4:4 as that is a 600 MHz bandwidth and HDMI cables are not good at supporting that over long runs to projectors.

2. Is HDMI 2.0 required? Or are HDMI 1.4 devices sufficient?
If HDMI 2.0, is HDCP 2.2 required?

3. Directv site mentions that 7.1 audio will be supported. I assume there is a single HDMI output on the C61K that carries both audio and video, and not a separate audio-only HDMI output like the Samsung UHD Blu-Ray player has. Based on the answer to my second question, I would need to know whether an HDMI 2.0 compliant AVR is needed to pass the HDMI through to the projector, or if an older HDMI 1.4 AVR is sufficient. I have a HDMI 2.0/ HDCP 2.2 compliant projector, but my AVR only supports HDMI 1.4 and is not able to pass though HDMI 2.0 video.

Does the C61K have an optical or coax SPDIF output for 5.1 sound?

EDIT: I found C61K specs at a retailer site that seems to answer most of my questions:

HDMI Output only
HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 required for 4K output
Digital Audio (Coax)
Optical Audio

So I would connect the C61K directly to my projector, and use the Digital Audio output to my AVR. It is likely that I would upgrade my AVR before we start seeing 7.1 audio anyway.
I just need to know what 4K format is utilized as I asked in question 1.

As I haven't been a Directv customer for the past 4 years, I don't want to start service again and have the install fail when confirming a 4K connection to my projector.

It's the second you listed above ....

4:2:0 color sampling @ 8 or 10 bits per sample.
60 fps.

Doesn't mean all the UHDTV programming will have those numbers of course. But is the current max. the TV needs to support to be eligible for DIRECTV 4K service.

The C61K I have appears to only be outputting 24fps.
Yes, everyone is reporting the same issue. I assume it will be fixed in a firmware upgrade. People with RVU TVs are getting 60fps.

Thanks. As long as the color space is 4:2:0, I should have no problem with either 24 or 60 fps. I have struggled with the Samsung UHD Blu-Ray player that outputs 4K/60 4:4:4 for its home screen menus with a 25 foot cable run. UHD Blu-Ray discs are 4K/24 4:2:0 10 bit and I have no problem with them.

Looks like I will make the call.

So I should wait until April before calling in to start new service? That will be cutting it close for the live golf.

Shouldn't have to ....

The Golf event and all subsequent 4K programming will broadcast from somewhere on the Ka band initially then likely migrate to the Reverse Band as the LNBs reach mass distribution.

I currently have the HR44 but will be receiving a HR54 on Monday.
Will it be as simple as swapping the two?
I have a SWiM 16 switch.

Yes pretty much, any existing clients will need to paired with the new one. The HR54 also has a built in power inserted that can be used instead of the external one. Some people still use the external power inserted with it.
