NASCAR 2016 season

Omg nascar is getting pathetic. They fine Tony 35,000 bucks for saying it was stupid not to run all 5 lug nuts on a pit stop. The driver council agreed to pay the fine cause they back Tony. Now 4 days later nascar says it's a new rule that all cars must use all 5 lug nuts or it's a penalty. I guess Tony was right but hey lets him fine him because well we can and that's how we get off in life.

Well, it was a stupid fine in the first place ... since when can you not voice your opinion ?
Back in the day these things would have never happened because back then when the drivers talked about something, they listened.

Typical of NASCAR to hear something, fine them for something they think is offensive and then say, Oh wait, thats not as bad as we thought.

From article:

Last week, three-time premier series champion Tony Stewart expressed concerns that the safety of competitors was being overlooked by not mandating all five lug nuts be properly installed on wheels. A day later, when Stewart announced he would return to competition after missing the season's first eight races, NASCAR announced it had fined the co-owner/driver $35,000.

"It wasn't (a case of) saying they're not doing their job," Stewart told FOX Sports during Sunday's pre-race show. "I just felt like this is one thing they dropped the ball on. So, they're doing a good job. They're looking at it. They're going to address it and make it right, and down the road we won't have to worry about this again, hopefully."

France said Stewart is "very aware of how we approach criticism ... of the sport and the product of the racing itself, and safety is paramount of that. Tony is very aware of how we look at that. We allow them to criticize and give their point of view way more than any other sport. ... We're thick-skinned; we get it.

"It's when you go into the area of denigrating the racing product. That's all we have in NASCAR, the highest quality of competition. When you start working against that in any way, we're going to have to deal with that. And everybody understands that."

NASCAR thick skinned and more lenient than other sports ?

Had to laugh ... this is NASCAR were talking about.

You could give nascar a evil stare and that would enough to break their thick skin and fine you for actions detrimental to stock car auto racing lol

I'm shocked they dont fine people when they ask about the mythical cautions for debris (and cameras cant ever find it)

Nice win by Sadler on Saturday.....by the yellow technicality

why would they wave the yellow when they were almost done?? seemed goofy

Guess NASCAR wanted Sadler to win on his birthday :)

Forget who said it and it didn't register at first, but I agree,,time for JR to lose Amelia in the South Pacific ;)

Kind of a scary weekend with the folks hitting that wall and 2 cars flipping

Why didnt the roof flaps open on either car? Seems odd that they didnt

A notable change in the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series schedule includes a date swap between a track that just hosted one of the most competitive races in its history, and one that will showcase the lower downforce competition package this coming weekend. Talladega Superspeedway, which last Sunday had the second-highest total of green flag passes for the lead ever recorded (213), will become the second race in the Round of 12 in 2017 (Oct. 15). Kansas Speedway will now become the third and final race in that round (Oct. 22).
Texas Motor Speedway's spring Cup race shifts to Sunday (April 9), a move expected to produce great racing action like that seen after Richmond International Raceway switched to a Sunday race for the 2016 season. Other changes in the NASCAR Cup schedule include Dover International Speedway's spring date move to June 4, a week after the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (May 28). Michigan International Speedway's second race will return to its traditional early August slot, on Aug. 13.
The NASCAR Cup Series 2017 schedule opens with The Great American Race, the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26. The season culminates with the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 19.
