Blue Jays take homefield advantage away for the Rangers. Big game tomorrow for Texas, and it's a quick turnaround (12 noon local time start).

The morning after the last out of the Red Sox season truly does "leave you facing the winter alone", just as Bart Giamatti so eloquently stated in his epic "Green Fields of the Mind". But after watching David Ortiz for the last 16 seasons, it definitely does feel a lot warmer. There are soooo many things about Big Papi to be grateful for, but the biggest thing I'm thankful for comes down to one word: hope. Pre-2004 I was like every other Red Sox fan, waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop. After 2004 (and sub sequentially 2007 and 2013), Ortiz brought hope to a fan base that was waiting for that Bucky Dent, Bill Buckner or Aaron Boone moment to happen. The Cubs are still alive today, but you just know their fan base is waiting for that other shoe to drop (it may have actually started last night). Same thing with the Indians. Red Sox fans are free from that sickly feeling, and that's due to Big Papi. I am eternally grateful for that. The last of the "25" from that epic 2004 season is now retired. Thank you for EVERYTHING Large Father, and yes this is your f*c#ing city!!

I living in Chicago for 8 years and seeing those crappy years and the beginning of the Steroid Era, I have a soft spot with the Cubbies. I have promised my wife, a diehard Cubs fan, that IF they are in the World Series...we WILL be in Chicago IF they have a chance to win it all.

I want to be there when it happens...

Here's to a Chicago Cubs-Cleveland Indians World Series. Now that the Red So:mad:& White Sox) have won the World Series many times over, after the Cubs, aren't the Indians the next team with the longest World Series win drought?

Here we go again, in Baseball this time ...

In Toronto, where the Cleveland Indians are playing the Toronto Blue Jays ...
Canada has decided that the name Indians is offensive and are not allowing any Indians logos or the name to be displayed in the park and the announcers are not allowed to use the word Indians during the broadcast.

My question is, were they allowed to use them during the regular season ?
Answer is YES

If they used the name during the year, not allowing it in the post season is ridiculous.

Not much discussion here. Cleveland used 8 pitchers last night? Wow.

IMO, Terry Francona is unparalleled at navigating a bullpen through a postseason game. He did it in Boston, and now he's doing it in Cleveland

They just mentioned it on the local news last night .... thought I'd pass it along .... sounds like it's old news.
I heard that on MLB on XM. I didn't even know it was an issue.

Congrats to the Cleveland Indians on winning the AL pennant!! Terry Francona has never lost a World Series game (8-0). I doubt he'll be able to go 12-0, but ya never know.
