My Genie, model HR54, was updated yesterday. When I turned my TV on last night, my entire DVR was erased, my program manager was erased, and my whole DVR acted as if it were brand new. I've had it for just over four months, so I don't think it would be bad. Any possible solutions?

You got a corrupted update! Take it up with the manufacturer etc. I have lost bluray players to the same scenario. It is possible your DVR won't function properly either.

it does happen. i had it on my first hr34.
i had to call multiple times to get a replacement.

Not a corrupted update, the updates are encoded so they can't be corrupted.
Often if this issue happens the DVR will recover all its data over the next few days. Using the "double reboot" sometimes helps.

I would reiterate what Texas said, reboot and give it a few days.
I have had the same thing happen on my HR44 and the shows have always come back ... Doesn't happen that you lose everything very often.

I've had this happen a couple times over the years, and each time it did not come back. If the hard drive becomes corrupted, even if not a hardware failure it may be a file table or similar, it will erase during a reboot.

If you are comfortable doing the diagnostics I would run the short hard drive test to be sure it isn't likely the drive, and beyond that, move on with re-creating your series links.

To access the diagnostic press select during the reboot process at the third screen (says something about hardware or testing on a blue screen)

I did the short test and the long test and both came back as passed. I'm assuming that it means there isn't a problem with the hard drive?

If both of those tests passed I would doubt it is hardware related, not a certainty but most likely.

I would keep using it and not worry unless it happens again, most likely some sort of data corruption which is rare.

Sent from my iPhone using the SatelliteGuys app!

Yep, My HR34, and HR24 both had this happen a few years
I fairly certain it was a wide spread issue . I know it was all over DBSTalk and SatelliteGuys .
