Good morning to all,
I have an issue with my FTA receiver Fortec star lfetime classic NA, the remote control does not operate the receiver anymore.
I have actually two Fortec receivers of the exact same model, so i did a few debug steps, and i can confirm that the issue is with the receiver and not the remote.
Never seen this before, is it possible that the IR transmitter receiver LED from the Fortec may have died on me?
Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Thank You.

I assume the remote from both receivers will not operate the one receiver? If both remotes operate the other receiver, then it has to be the receiver itself. I am not familiar with those receivers, but some receivers have an option to change the remote address. If that's the case with these, you may want to confirm that the receiver address matches the remote address.

Sadly my receiver does not have that option.

Try unplugging the STB from the AC outlet overnight. If that doesn't resolve, attempt a factory reset if your STB doesn't have a lock code set. If the STB requires a code to allow the factory reset, then it cannot occur without the remote. The Lifetime Classics were prone to flash corruption.

Swap face plates to verify if failed IR receptor or other component front panel PCB issue. The IR receptor can be easily swapped as it is a common part, but have never tested one as defect. Usually a power supply issue on the Lifetime Classics. Test the ribbon cable that all voltages are within 10% of voltage printed on main PCB. Look for capacitors on the power supply PCB with bulging tops and replace.

Disposed of all remaining Fortec Star warranty parts about four years ago... :(
