The OFFICIAL DISH / HBO Thread

I think since HBO NOW is on a month to month basis, one could subscribe for a couple of months a year and pretty much catch up on any series or movies you might have missed. That's a ten month savings that we didn't have when Dish carried them.
Sure we did. Dish had video-on-demand, so we could do pretty much the same thing if we wanted.

That’s the plan

I was looking to add HBO and I just now realized Dish is no longer carrying it. What seems to be the best way to get it now for Dish customers? Just getting the standalone service?

If you are an Amazon Prime member, I recommend getting the HBO channel through them as you get access to live streams of several HBO Channels, plus you can also login to HBO Now with your Amazon credentials and get anything that hasn't shown up on Amazon yet. Otherwise, HBO Now is the way to go. This all assumes, of course, that you have a streaming device and broadband internet access.

Last season of Got is released.

AT&T board room: The numbers are down! We need more viewers to justify all the spin off series!

Board member: I know! Get the Dish Network deal back! Then we'll say they demanded it to watch Got. Then we can add millions of viewers to the statistics!

They all say Aye. Badda book Badda boom

Was reading over the weekend that AT&T is getting sued for providing false material reports to investors when they bought Time Warner

Lawsuit: AT&T’s DirecTV Now is a flop and AT&T lied to investors about it

In June 2018, when AT&T bought Time Warner Inc., Time Warner shareholders' stock was converted into AT&T stock. AT&T issued the shares pursuant to a registration statement that it had previously filed with the SEC, and this registration statement "touted false and misleading financial results, trends, and metrics and omitted material facts rendering those financial results, trends, and metrics materially misleading," the complaint said. The registration statement consisted of documents filed between November 2016 and January 2017.

"Defendants conducted the acquisition with the registration statement containing untrue statements of material fact and omitting material facts both required by governing regulations and necessary to make the statements made not misleading," the complaint said.

Will be interesting to see how this shakes out in the courts.

Thank you, I am and that was the exact issue I was wondering since Dish seems to be a no-go.

Hope you let us know how it performs thru your TV Amazon Prime.

I've been watching HBO through my Amazon prime account for a month and it is working fine. I watch it on several Amazon Fire TV sticks or my Xbox One via the Prime app. I'll say this, having access to the live HBO feeds it just reminds me how little I was missing since HBO went dark on Dish. Like most others I'll keep it until the end of GoT and maybe keep it a little longer til the Deadwood movie airs. Then...I'm out.

I've had HBO via Amazon and HBO Now several times over the last few years. The only issues I've had is with certain "live" shows taking forever to show up the next morning. The almost always show up on HBO Now first. I am going to be very interested to see how each of the streaming platforms does this time around with GoT, which is so popular.

AT&T had a choice, to sell to Dish under the terms of the previous contract. It is apparent in this forum that those who subscribes were also sold a lot they didn't want but paid anyway.

AT&T comes up with an alternative strategy. Sell monthly, let the viewers binge watch, and then cancel.

Wow that's going to make more money that before Who came up with this business model? Were they wearing a bronze bracelet?

Not sure they invented it, but Netflix made it successful, for some definition of successful, so everyone must now follow the same model, even if what you were doing before was working. Very few try to win anymore by selling a better product.
