I have 2 receivers, but neither give me anything but signal level/quality. The Amiko Mini HD265 meter is great, but my other box is not calibrated, so it's kinda tough to know how strong some signals are on it. Anyone know of a good receiver on the lower price side that gives signal figures in dB? I know the Edision does, but I am not quite ready for one and am looking for something a little simpler.

Can't think of any STB over the past decade that had a signal meter capable of dB measurement. You could connect the STB's IF loopout to an SDR dongle or spectrum analyzer to look at the IF signals but that is getting way out in the weeds :) and.... you may not be able to interpret what you see.

Any Enigma2 based STB is capable of SNR display in dB units. While older E2 STBs may not be desirable for daily use, they certainly could be used for displaying Signal readings.

I'll gift you an Edision OS mini STB with remote if you would pick-up the shipping cost.
Sorry for the late response. Busy day!

Sounds like a great offer. Feel free to send me a quote. I don't need anything priority shipped. jlbetnar@gmail.com. Same for paypal.

The Edision OS mini is like new, with all accessories, loaded with SatdreamGR image. The giftbox will fit in a USPS Regional A box. A USPS Priority is the least expensive route and should be under $12 to most US adresses.

Drop an email to sales@titaniumsatellite.com with your name, shipping address and daytime phone. I'll ship the STB on Monday and you can issue a payment via Paypal to the same email.

If you have an Android tablet or smartphone, connect the STB to your network (ethernet cable), download dreamdroid or other dreambox compatible signal finder app, enter the IP address assigned to the STB by your router for a handy portable satellite meter. :)

Knowing how far you are from the threshold of a modulation scheme by doesn't seem all that actionable.
It would give me an idea if my system may be need some fine tuning and better components vs a bigger dish. But of course, dish size is the king factor of pulling in the more complex modulation schemes.

That, and it would give me a reference point to other BUD owners who compare signal levels in dB.

When my finances fatten up a little more, I plan to go for a Edision OS Mio+, but for now, this will be a way to learn and get more comfortable with Linux stbs.

@Captive Midnight,

You got one heck of am offer from Titanium on Edision OS Mio 4K, it is an excellent STB. Enjoy!

This box is a new animal for sure. I have a wifi dongle in the back usb (connected to the internet thru my router), but I am having trouble linking the box to dreamdroid. I enter the stb's ip into the app, but I don't know if I need a port number or how to determine what it is. Could you lead me in the right direction? I have openwebif enabled and can access it via my browser. http port is 80 on the openwebif config screen.

The default and typical for the Edision is port 80. As you are able to use WebIF on another computer via port 80 on this IP address to control and view the STB, this would confirm the IP address and port 80 settings.

All you should need to do to configure DreamDroid is enter the IP address assigned by the router and assign a profile name. Restarting the DreamDroid app will connect to this profile.

I have attached an example of a DreamDroid profile that works on my Android app. (EDIT: the phone app will not allow me to attach a photo to this post.)

Is your Android device using current supported / updated OS?

Is the the Android device WiFi enabled (on same network as the Edision) and confirmed working on other apps?

Is there a reason that an external USB WiFi is being used on the Edision instead of the embedded internal WiFi or better yet, hardwired ethernet?

Try with hardwired ethernet to the Edision?

Try DreamDroid with a different Android device?

Attached photo of example DreamDroid setting.
