Those two figures are miles apart ...

Yes they are, but NBC can easily pay it with far less than is needed for a conference package.

They actually get just over half of that, around $55 mil.

It's speculation that the new Fox Contract will give them $100 mil. Same speculation that says Notre Dame can get $75 mil.

NBC paying Notre Dame $75 mil is far less than Fox paying the Big Ten $1.6 bil.

Big Ten would be stupid to do it if they are getting 55 M per.

You are correct these figures are being talked about, not confirmed yet.

Sounds like no one in the ACC is able to move, due to the current contract running thru 2036.
if thats the case, its going to be a long spell before we see Clemson or nay others in the SEC or Big Ten.

Q. How is it that ND can decide they want In a conference one year and out the next, with out any recourse.

When it was convenient ND was in the ACC, then they are Independent .

They could, but won't as neither school enjoys the national following that Notre Dame has.

While Alabama is huge in the Southeast and Ohio State is huge in the mid-west, they really don't enjoy the same kind of popularity outside those regions.

Of the 7 games, one is vs a Group of Five and thus usually a push over, and another will be either Navy or Purdue, also walk overs.

Buckeye fans pack the building where ever they play.

Do all the Domer fans watch NBC every week ?
Are thier NBC viewing number REALLY at the same as the Buckeyes are ?

They may be, but you would think, IF so, you'd be hearing about NBC's great viewing numbers.

On any given Saturday, when I am watching games other than my Buckeyes, I rarely go to NBC .... and I actually like ND somewhat ....

Here is a good articles on comparing ratings. I'd say ND has trailed the top SEC schools and OSU. So if people watching the games are local almost everyone is watching in those areas.

And of course, I think Notre Dame's ratings would be better if they weren't as average in college football as they've been in the last couple of decades. Of course, their players likely can graduate and get real jobs.

Not really. Outside their respective geographic areas, people don't give them any thought unless their team is playing them that week.

I guess we can agree to disagree on that one.

I have people coming into my store daily to buy Buckeye products ... probably 30-40% are from out of State, Florida, Texas, California, Las Vegas .....

I hadn't realized that it was only Home games that NBC was showing ...
Your right about the schedule ...

ND has a Brutal schedule this year ...
Ohio State ... two top 10 teams, should be good ... only drawback is its the 1st game of the year.
Marshall .... ND Starters should be out by the 2nd quarter
Cal .... better than Marshall, would be in middle of the Big Ten
North Carolina .... could be good, or not.
BYU ....
Stanford ....
UNLV ....
Syracuse ....
Clemson ... another down year potentially
Navy .....
Boston College ....
USC .... not sure what to expect from USC ... Top 20, maybe Top 10, well see.

Those numbers look close to what I would expect ... except, I didn't think ichigan would be that high.

That article pointed out something that I hadn't thought about ... Time the game was on ...
The majority of the Big Ten games are Noon (thanks fox ) ... the Major SEC games are all at night time, which will always draw a larger number.
I would imagine the Pac teams are low as they are out west, making it a Later game yet ... most of the country is watching the end of the 7:30 pm game.

I'm also rather surprised how low Clemson is, seeing they have been a Top team for awhile now ...

I'm more surprised Temple has higher viewership than Rutgers. Granted, I think the lower stats are influenced heavily by larger programs playing them. Indiana on par with UCLA... umm no.

Notre Dame has a nationwide following, good years or bad. While every other team (with the exception of the military academies) is regional (you're not going to find any Ohio St bumper stickers in the deep south, but will still find Notre Dame ones).

It's a simple fact of life, which is hard to see when your in that region.
