pattykay and Josephinelcajon attached is a list of 40.0 remote control buttons that don’t work or do something different in my Hopper Plus/Joey 4 setup. I have seven 54.0/3s and nine 40.0s paired to Hopper Plus/ Joey 4s in my DISH setup, not including my 2nd Hopper 3. The reason for so many remotes is because of a HDMI to RF modulator attached to my primary Hopper Plus and his/her remotes. I was surprised that all the DVR recording playback buttons work quite well with the 40.0. I am going to remove my H+ tomorrow and go back to pure Hopper mode. If there are any more 40.0 remote control button test you wish for, let me know soon.

I don't get any of those 5xxx channels on either receiver.. (5164, 5163, etc). Is that where they are moving too or where they are now? I currently get them on 7521,7523 etc
That's where they are now. You should see those HD feeds on those channel numbers and/or on the local mapdown channel numbers. (9-00, 10-00, etc.) If you do not see the HD local channels in either channel range, that explains why you are getting the upgrade message. Are you sure you have the 129 satellite in your setup? Go to Menu > System Setup > Installation > Point Dish > Check Switch. See what satellites you have listed on that screen. You may need to select the Test button, to run the Check Switch again.

I think this is correct thread. It is for members wondering how the 40.0 performs with a H+ system. No sticky thread required.
Did I miss a bunch of posts? This thread is for people with legacy receivers who are being forced to upgrade their Dish equipment due to the MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 migration. Nothing about the H+ in it. :imconfused

I am getting the locals on 9,10,12, etc. I ran the check switch. I don't see 129 listed either before or after I ran the test. Pixs attached...
Thanks

Those channels 9, 10, 12, etc. that you see now are the SD feeds that are going away. The HD feeds would have an "HD" symbol on the left side of the box to the left in the guide, next to the channel number.

Since you don't have signal from the 129 satellite, I would guess that either you have something blocking the signal (tree growth?) or something is not hooked up correctly. It could be a sign that your LNB has started to fail. In that case, all you would need is a replacement Western Arc 1000.2 LNB, and then run the Check Switch again after swapping out the LNB. If signal from 129 is completely blocked, though, then you would need to either relocate the dish, or re-aim it for Eastern Arc instead.

Thanks, so if I go to the eastern arc that take a different LNB?
Heading on vacation in a couple days so it might be a few weeks before I report back

Your satellite dish is misaligned. You are receiving satellite 110 where you should be getting 119 and 119 is being received on the 129 head. The order the satellites should appear on your particular LNBF is 119/110/129. Referencing the image attached, I can tell you that you need to reduce your elevation a little (depending on where you are) then swivel to the right (or SW) a few degrees.

(Note that on the LNBF the center feed is port 1, port 2 is rightmost and port 3 is leftmost)

If you are doing this on your own without the help of a meter, it’s a good idea to cover the two side heads with aluminum foil until you make sure the only satellite being received in the center head is 119. Once you lock 119 in, and your skew is correct/mount is plumb, the other two satellites will come in when you remove the aluminum and run another switch test.

Never thought of this THANKS!

I have a meter, it's been quite a few years ago that I installed this DISH and I don't remember when I replaced the LNB. I only had 512's at the time so I wouldn't know that I was missing anything. The dish is mounted 5' up on my Rohn tower. Unfortunately we have clay soil here and it shifts bad due to contraction and expansion. My tower is now leaning so I have no doubt that it (the dish) needs realigned. Tower is sitting in a 3x3x3' of concrete which is how we used to do it around here back in the days of Rohn towers, Channel Master antennas and amps.
Thanks for the info

Thanks again for the tip. I thought you were gonna tell me that if I put tinfoil on my head it would help with the alignment. LOL

The SD services will remain on 119 - they will just be converted from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4.

The goal of this project is to affect as few people as possible with these changes.
Once again, here is another person who was affected by these changes, seemingly with no notice:
North Platte, NE no SD only HD locals - KNOP, KPNE, KIIT, KHGI, KPNL

SD channels should be on SD 119° 5sA07. The guide data no longer lists the SD channels. I am in an odd spot and don't get 110° 29s29 which is where the HD channels are.

Have you tried the SD feeds' four-digit channel numbers in the 6570's? When Dish is transitioning the MPEG-2 SD locals, they will usually remove the mapdown to the local channel numbers. However, they leave the feeds uplinked and active on the four-digit numbers for a few weeks, to give people more time to upgrade their equipment without completely losing the programming from those channels.

Regretfully, those are missing as well; in the guide, and tuning directly. Having an installer out next week.
So, Josh, once again I ask for at least a list of the next round of upcoming markets to be transitioned, if not an exact timetable, so that we may help give people more of a heads-up about exactly what is happening in each market.

Hello, we lost our locals this week, but have the alternate versions on the 8700-8800 channels. Are those going to go away too?
Yes, the general timeline is one week after the locals are removed from the "local range" they will be removed from the "source" range...so one week to upgrade your equipment.
