Might as well start the next season off with a bang.

Ole' Miss busted for paying players.

http://espn.go.com/college-football...nsil-admits-taking-cash-ole-miss-rebels-coach

Laremy Tunsil, the controversial offensive tackle taken by the Miami Dolphinswith the No. 13 draft pick Thursday night, says he took money from a coach while he was a player at Ole Miss.

Tunsil spoke at a news conference after his draft selection in Chicago and an alleged hack of his Instagram and Twitter accounts.

"I'd have to say yeah," Tunsil said when asked by a reporter if he took money from a coach.

A screenshot of a text that was published to the Instagram account @kingtunsil appeared to show a request for money from Ole Miss assistant athletic director John Miller for rent and so Tunsil's mother could pay her electric bill.

Guess that explains how Ole' Miss got good. Back to the cellar where they belong.

I didn't read or listen to the whole ordeal, but did he actually get the money? He said he asked for it, but did he actually get it?

yep, he admitted to the reporters that he got money, at least before his agent told him to shut up.

And the text seem to imply paying him and his mom's bills was a regular thing, as the text said they didn't know how to handle "unexpected amounts", not unexpected bills, but amounts, as that month's light bill was high. So basically sounds like an ongoing thing. And considering the texts were with the Assistant A.D., makes it sound very institutional. Ole' Miss is heading into a whole world of hurt.

Tunsil: “Coach, Mom’s light bill is due. What should I do about it? It’s $305”

Coach: “Wow – for one month?… I thought we all agreed on an amount… that number keeps changing… someone needs to explain exact cost… I have no way of handling surprise amounts.”

What is your guys thoughts on these Satellite Camps ?

I have no problem with them really, but is it for the Coaches to get together and share ideas while coaching kids ?

Michigan has 25 of these scheduled this summer ... do they do ANYTHING in AA ?

I really have not put that much thought into them one way or the other. On the surface they appear to be "the new thing", or an attempt by a few coaches to make them "the new thing".

I am sure for some schools they may help in recruiting.

I had no problem with them, as it increases exposure for both the schools and the students.

Coaches have always got together with other school coaches as well as Pros to discuss and share ideas ....
However, now it appears in some instances the whole Team is going to different cities ... that's bizarre if you ask me.

Baylor University Fires Head Football Coach Art Briles

http://www.newson6.com/story/32072932/baylor-university-fires-head-football-coach-art-briles

In a move that caught some by surprise, Baylor University has fired head football coach Art Briles in the wake of the sexual assault and domestic violence scandal that has engulfed the school’s football program.

"Effective immediately, Head Football Coach Art Briles has been suspended indefinitely with intent to terminate, according to contractual procedures," a news release states.

The school said Ken Starr is out as president as well but will serve in another capacity. The release states other members of the administration and athletics programs have also been dismissed

That Baylor thing is just like PSU looking to make a statement against big heads so the public will get off their back. I find it hard to believe Art was letting things happen or over looking it for the sake of the team.

On another note 100 more days till kick off! :D
Looking forward to being at Bristol against Tenn to set the World record for a single college football game - likely to set it so high nobody will hit for many years to come! They put a awesome new hanging display screen over the infield which is pretty cool (likely to get hit by a bunch of punts).
Finally a coach to put the hammer down and stop being so conservative when it comes to playing the WHOLE game...got so tired of Beamer and his barely winning and knee the damn ball with 2 minutes left mentality. The kids came to play so even if the 4th string went out there for 2 minutes then let them play. Fuente will certainly get the job done and quickly I think - should be a force to reckon with in the Coastal at least providing they get over the Tenn hump whom I see coming into that game ranked in top 15.

Bristol holds 160,000 ... If you fill it, which I doubt, it will definitely be a record that will stand, at least till they move another football game into a track that holds over 110,000

In light of the school intimidating victims of the rape in order to keep them quiet, and not reporting other cases of rapes by players, I can see the "Institutional Control" hammer falling hard on Baylor. They're likely to get a punishment equal to what Penn St. got, with Briles getting a "show cause".

From last I heard its on track right now to hit 150,000 according to early ticket sales which have been advertised for the last 2 years.
Anything over 130,000 will hold for years I'm sure but the track conversion according to some big wigs I talked to last year said would only happen just this once to align with how they redesigned the tracks over hanging score board/track board and other changes.

The only goal now is to win the game-- till that opener nobody has any idea how VT will play from this new coach even after the spring game.
We are about 90days to kick off though so its counting down.

Has anyone heard if ESPN is going to broadcast any games thru Dish in 4K this year?

150,000 would be amazing.

Va Tech needs to worry less about Metallica and Bristol gimmicks and getting back to what the ACC needs out of them. They haven't done their part in awhile.

So DVR, are you going to watch them all year this year, or get pissed and stop half way thru?

I have season tickets - I go to every home game, I watch every away game...I go to some away games and try to get to each bowl game.
Finally I won't be pissed off watching Beamer ruin the team as his health failed.

Metallica is no more a gimmick than the chop going on down there in Florida...remember that.
Bristol is a hype - but its a good one and one I'll enjoy. I've been to just about every big starter game that VT has gone to or had since before the Vick years and this one is really no different.

I could see going to the Bristol game as an event, just to say you were part of the crowd. But personally, if my team were to agree to play in such a game, I would not go. The majority of the seats will be garbage for viewing a football game. It just is not designed for the sport.

I will be surprised if the Vols dont streamroll them to be honest. Tennessee is right on the cusp of "being back". You could see it last year. They could have easily won every game they were in, including Oklahoma and Bama.
