HR34 Slow Response, might this apply to the 44 and 54 also??

they are not charging anything to replace the HR34 with an HR44, besides for S&H without the protection plan which can be waived sometimes. Keep in mind that the replacement is going to be an HR44, not a 54, there is no way to request a 54 under this "replacement program"

    4K on H34?

Yeah, you could do 4K with an HR34/44 just fine (todays offerings which is VOD). As long as you have a C61K or 4K DIRECTV ready (RVU) TV.

    Question about DECA Ethernet performance

Dont think so. Unless the newer receivers supports the newer MoCA protocol, there is no reason of DIRECTV to release higher speed DECAs. Also DIRECTV will be limiting the quantity of shows that can be "whole-homed" at any one time, I believe it will be limited to two streams making believe...

Could DTV Do Video Over WIFI Without A Receiver?

It would not work via the TV's built in wifi. The RVU data MUST come through the Ethernet port. Wether it be by hard wired or fake mechanism to fool the TV as a media bridge, that is different.

    HR54 ethernet port

Yes they do, but as it has been said already, DirecTV policy is to use a BroadBand DECA. Using a direct connection is fine as well, as long as the Briadband DECA is removed.

    HR54 ethernet port

That "power supply" which is called a BroadBand DECA as mentioned above, is what is supplying Internet to your DirecTV system. This is actually a better connection method as compared to connecting the Genie directly specially if you have other receivers or DVRs in the system because it does not...

Considering moving from an HR34 to an HR54

Dont see how 4K is any different than when we went from SD to HD. I was quoted $300 back then (many moons ago) when I ditched my DIRECTV TiVO (Phillips 80 hours) for an HR20. I was able to get it a reduced cost however. So I don't expect that just by calling DIRECTV and saying that I want 4K...

    Slingbox with directv?

This is an HDCP issue the only workaround is to either use component on the receiver to your TV, or get a powered HDMI splitter that fools the receiver in to thinking yrou TV is still on.

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

Is not wether DirecTV wants to broadcast on 1080p, is if the content creators wants to create such content is such resolution.

If is a BSF then the TS needs one for each H20 since BSF are made for non MRVable receivers.

    HR54

When the installer calls or shows up at your house ask him if he has an HR54, if he doesn't then reschedule the appointment. Wash, rinse and repeat until they can bring an HR54. It can take a couple of weeks or longer to get the HR54 this way.

    SWM Slimline Dish

If you have the correct 2" OD mast then is as "simple" as swapping the dish, although you do have to AIM the dish which would be the hardest part if you have never aligned a dish before. You may need a set of monopoles, aka braces for the new bigger dish. Also as mentioned a 21v power supply...
