    Nick Gas

...wanted to keep Noggin in the AT200 package, and Dish wanted to replace GaS with it, in the higher package. That would fit with E*'s usual strategy. They will say that the programming changed significantly, and they aren't required to change it. When it's headed to court, all of a sudden...

    New Dish Network Pricing

I'm planning on that very thing come February this year, just going to add an HD Tivo to that, and I should be all set. Between Tivo/OTA, Netflix/Blu Ray, and the Tivo/Amazon Unbox, I should be set for nearly all, and not be required to pay 70+ a month for TV service. I'll miss the occasional...

Still no FOX local HD in Sacramento?

I got it on KCRA via LiL on Dish most of last night. OTA was fine, but Dish has some issue with their reception of KCRA (they recieve OTA as well, so I'd be pretty sure it's there recieve station or uplink.

    Fox News Sues Echostar

Now there's a well-thought-out, professional, high quality post. Why, when Fox News or Fox Business Channel are brought up, must so many people unload their political crap into the thread? This wouldn't happen, and didn't happen, back when the provider was Viacom, so why now? I...

Still no FOX local HD in Sacramento?

Our local FOX is owned by Tribune Media, which owns many other stations throughout the country, not just FOX stations, other networks as well. I would be pretty sure that part of what they are asking for are their non-big4 network channels to be carried, which include KTLA and WGN among...

    Fox News Sues Echostar

Got it. :) Thought you were talking about E* lawsuits, not Fox. :)

    Fox News Sues Echostar

What HDNet dispute? That was HDNet and D*, not E*, as I recall. D* wanted to place HDNet in the HD Extra pack. HDNet has and continues to be an HD channel you recieve with the HD Enabling fee.

    Fox News Sues Echostar

However, not everyone subs to AT200. Therefore there are lots of people who are not receiving Fox News that should be. Everyone that receives AT200 also receives AT100 by default, but it's not the same in reverse.

SatelliteGuys.US DishNetwork Uplink Activity Discussion - Week Ending 12/15/2007

That's a bit of a harsh statement, I think. Is 129 a POS? You bet. Here in Northern California, I get the lowest signal readings of any location on 129, too low for my liking. However, in 2 years, I've had exactly 1 loss of satellite signal from 129. It lasted for a few minutes, and it was...

Comparing Dish HD with upconverted SD DVD...

...CAN use as much bandwidth as it's given. However, it typically doesn't need as much bandwidth as MPEG2 needs. I'd be willing to bet that if E* gave the MPEG4 channels as much bandwidth as the MPEG2 channels use, the picture would be simply beautiful. However, that would also defeat the...

...blackouts, to all subs. It sounds like YES wants me to pay, even though I won't receive the channel. I'd have to pay yet another 5 dollars a month to E* to get the sports pack to actually watch it. Yet I'd be sending a part of my monthly bill to them WITHOUT AN ABILITY TO WATCH THE CHANNEL.

Are the VOOM movie channels now a complete Joke?

That's not the way the programming people work nowadays. :) He needs to figure out how to make 20 channels out of the 15 that are there now. :) :)

    BIO. HD Premiers Nov 28th

Great. Another A&E HD channel, showing almost entirely stretch-o-vision. I'd be all for it if we knew they would show HD content, but this is A&E we're talking about here.

    Federal lawsuit on Bundled Channels

But, how many of these niche channels (and even more general interest channels for that matter) have more than an hour or two of new content each day? I'd rather they program the channels they have now better, rather than launch a new channel to feature one or two new original programs. There...

Hbo & Cinemax Free For Three Months

Looks like it's for new customers only, along with 6 months of DishHD free, and the DVR upgrade.

    Federal lawsuit on Bundled Channels

I'm no MBA, but I think it's pretty easy. With the proliferation of DVRs out there today, you make one channel with a robust programming lineup, with all programming around a central theme. No need for Food Network, DIY, and HGTV, just one home improvement channel that combines all of the...

Comcast SportsNet West HD - pixellated mess

So tonight is the night for the first Sacramento Kings HD broadcast on E*, and it's an unwatchable, pixellated mess. Sent a message to dishquality, but not sure if they read and/or respond. I've checked other channels coming from 129, and all appears to be fine, just an uplink problem with...

Keep an eye on the uplink report tomorrow, and that should tell you which channels will be where.

...package. Start with the locals, which are required, and build your package from there. It's ridiculous that if I want National Geographic Channel, I need the top programming tier on E*, yet with UVerse, it's in the family pack. Something needs to change here, and hopefully sooner than later.

Do a new check switch now...it should be back up. Mine was at 1:45PT.

    Problems With TBS HD

I lost 129 here about 1:35 or so. A few check switches and it's still not back. Looks like it might have just popped back in.

What's next in HD for E*

...remember ever hearing a release about, namely all of the MTV Networks. MHD exists today, but MTV-HD, VH1-HD, and CMT-HD don't exist and I don't recall seeing a press release saying they are coming. If that's the case, why did E* launch MHD last month when these new channels are on their way?

Smithsonian and MGM HD coming to E* soon?

Not all channels are distributed via C-Band anymore. Plenty of channels are sent via fiber only, with no satellite uplink.

Smithsonian and MGM HD coming to E* soon?

I was reading at another board (I'm sure it's here as well), that among the September additions for D* are MGM HD and Smithsonian HD. These are new all-HD channels, exactly what I think we want, rather than 90% upconverts. Has any one heard anything on the possibility of these channels...
