    Where is Cartoon Network OnDemand?

Hi - we just had our Dish system installed after a move from Comcast - everyone in the family is very happy in general with the system (2 hoppers, 3 Joeys). One glaring omission that has one of my kids full attention - we can't find Cartoon Network in the OnDemand section. When we browse "TV...

    Multi-Hopper DVR behavior

Hi - I'm a new Dish customer with 2 hoppers and 3 joeys installed. For the most part, everything seems to be working well and we're pretty pleased with the service. All of our boxes can see both Hoppers recordings in the DVR listing by manually selecting the DVR. Is there any way to have...

New Dish install - some install questions (Satellite Dish and Hopper)

All, thanks so much for the feedback. This really is a vibrant community. I was able scope the dish out and it does only have two "eyes" on the front of the dish. I was able to see some images online with google to get an idea of the different types of dishes and it does look like they chose...

New Dish install - some install questions (Satellite Dish and Hopper)

So I had my install today. A fantastic guy did the install, including climbing up on my roof during a snowstorm. A few observations: 1) it was a 2H/3J install. Unfortunately they only gave me one hopper with Sling - the second was a 'regular' hopper. I did pay extra for the second hopper and...

New Dish install - some install questions (Satellite Dish and Hopper)

Aw CRUD. No YES network... I can't believe that I didn't notice that. I need to think about this - I do watch a number of Yankees games, so what I'll be poking at is if any of the games will also be carried on a local network (I think Fox does some of the weekend games?).

New Dish install - some install questions (Satellite Dish and Hopper)

Thank you very much for the suggestion! I used the "Chat" button on the website (which I typically avoid like the plague) and was very surprised with an outstanding agent who gave me all of the pricing info that the website wouldn't. They do a pretty good job of offering discounts for new...

New Dish install - some install questions (Satellite Dish and Hopper)

I have moved to a new home (NYC area) and am trying to avoid Comcast if possible! I've done some homework here (great forum) but do have some questions/clarifications to request help with. I have 5 TVs that I will be connecting. The home has what looks to be an 'old' Dish satellite on the...

So how long will the "digital white area "(HD) take for us w/o OTA HD?

Hey Vermonter - I'm a fellow Vermonter (Williston) fed up with the HD network situation here too. I'm currently a Dish and Adelphia subscriber. I actually think Adelphia has done a good job with HD here, but our network affiliates are a trainwreck obviously for various reasons. I'm...

    Receiver Phone Home Frequency?

How frequently do receivers phone dish network? I don't have an easy way of plugging some of my receivers into a phone jack, and am wondering how frequently these boxes normally try to connect to the E* mothership... If it matters, the two receivers I can't normally plug in are a 508 and an 811.

    Cbs Hd

Does anyone know if D* will have a similar clause to E* for white area subs?
  11. S

D* will carry CBS-HD for Superbowl and in O&O Markets!

With E*, you can also receive CBS-HD if you live in a white area in a non-O&O market. Will D* have the same terms for their CBS and Fox feeds? If so, I would very strongly consider switching to D*.

Anyone considering moving to DTV because of HDTV announcemen

Honestly, I have given it more thought than I ever have in the past. Today it was annoucnced that D* will be carrying my locals once their new Sat goes up too. If D* has more compelling HD programming (i.e. both CBS and Fox) when my locals are ready (2Q?) I will probably switch.

Any news on the Turner channels?

Does anyone know what such a major channel loss would do to customers under programming contracts? I am committed to AT50 for another few months, but loss of CNN, TCM, and all of the Viacom stations (read: Nik for my kids!) would VERY QUICKLY send me looking elsewhere. As Dish is no longer...

    Local Channel Mapping on 811

jerryez, I'm at a bit of a loss to understand your point. I receive my locals via Dish (I have no way of receiving them via OTA - white area). I have the 811 hooked up to my HDTV for the Dish HD channels but that doesn't mean we don't watch locals on the HDTV.

    Local Channel Mapping on 811

volfan615, thanks - you answered my question. I have to say that I think that is a pretty dumb design decision. There should be a setup menu switch to allow LIL mapping to be enabled if you don't use an external antenna (which I don't). As is, with this it seems that on two of our TVs our...

    Local Channel Mapping on 811

On my 811, my sat delivered locals do not map to local channels like any other receivers. I understand from reading here that this may be 'by design' to support OTA broadcasts. I do not even have an antenna attached, so is it possible to have it remap my locals? Maybe a setting in the Setup...

    Pricing of distant locals

Excellent - thanks Iceberg. So, I have Locals, + NYC Distants + Supers for 11.99 now (used to be just locals + supers). Sounds like if I want to add another set of distants, it would be + $6 additional unfortunately. Thanks!

    Pricing of distant locals

I am confused about the pricing of distant locals on Dish. I currently have my locals via LIL, but am also eligible for Distant locals via Dish. When I called to add the NYC Locals, I was told no problem, and that it was only $3.00 additional? That really surprised me - I had expected an...

Who ever adds Sci Fi in Wide/Enhanced gets my HD DVR order

I would LOVE it if they offered the Superstations in HD. I don't see any reason that it isn't feasible, and the WB in particular has some great HD programming available.

tconnors, for the DHP deal is that $99 811 yours to keep, or is it leased?

    CBSHD Qualification

I know - this topic never seems to end... I did a lot of searches, but haven't quite seen the answer I am looking for. I live in an area that has locals available via Dish Network. I live near the local broadcast towers, so am not eligible for any distant networks or CBS HD. However, way...

Video distribution of DVR AND Locals using Diplexer?

I have read much about using diplexers to get my antenna output to each of my sat receivers. Sounds good. I am wondering if anyone has also used diplexers to get the RF output of their DVR (508 in this case) onto the sat coax IN ADDITION so that I can access the DVR output from other TVs...

    Does 811 require Dishpro LNB?

I am confused - I thought the Legacy adapter was to use Dishpro switches with Legacy receivers, not the other way around. I was under the impression that the 811 will work just fine with legacy LNBFs.

61.5 Sat with Dish 500 Dish with Twin/Dual LNBFs?

Thanks HokieEngineer - sounds good. I'll pick up a D500 with the two Dual LNBFs and just leave one off for now. I'll try to avoid getting a Twin if I can because I'm not sure how the receiver would behave with only one LNBF active at 61.5 on a Twin. Thanks! (BTW - has anyone else noticed...

61.5 Sat with Dish 500 Dish with Twin/Dual LNBFs?

Sorry if this is a newbie question - I've done some searches and haven't found a definitive answer... I currently had a D500 with a Legacy Quad driving 3 receivers (2 301's and 1 508). One output from the D500 Quad is unused. I am planning to add an 811 Receiver very soon for HDTV and...
