Dish Network LNB on a Birdview

I have a Birdview solid but haven't used it since the 4DTV dish mover quit working. Looking into getting a Dish Network package. Can the DN LNB be mounted on a BUD and how? Has anyone gotten a DN installer to do it?

    hiding an elephant

The wife gave me the 'curbside appeal' requirement as we live in town. I put the Birdview solid on a pole behind the house at roof level. Ya can't see but about 6" of the top from the curb and it has a better view of the sky than when it was in the front yard. The roof even gives easy access to...

    Phlat's Birdview Install

That was a great idea. I broke two off when I started restoring mine, I ended up drilling and tapping 1/4" bolts into them and cutting off the heads.

    Bird View setup

Well, I didn't get mine done today, couldn't find enough magnets (got 'em on order). I did cut the disks with a 3 1/2" holesaw, worked good. Did some experimenting with the magnets and reed sensor. Using an analog Ohmmeter, the switch seemed to stay closed when I ran the reed across several...

Von Weise motor on a Birdview

Just for some closure, I am just going to use the original, it still works. Got my eyes out for a replacement.

    Bird View setup

I am working on my magnet wheel today, my Birdview had the mod when I got it, but, go figure, the one piece that I broke when I took it apart was that magnetic wheel. Could you guys post some pictures of the wheels you made?

Question reagrding old system setup for birdview system

OK, that clears up the path a bit. I suppose you will need to see if it still works. If you haven't tried moving it yet, don't. The dishmover should be inspected first. Take the plastic cover off the back of the dish and look close (most of the time dishes like yours are fine since they were...

    Bird View setup

I agree with Fred, get it up. You won't find a nicer dish. We are here (and maybe there?) to help. To do a quick site survey, grab a compass and find the clear spot in the yard. The fewer things in the way the better. As far as elevation angle, there are calculators online for your exact...

Question reagrding old system setup for birdview system

My first question for you browncow is how deep do you plan to go? Are you just looking for a good signal for general TV viewing, or do you have a serious case of the 'satellite bug'? -The W5 package would be the easy way to go from the technical side, set the dish on W5 and a new receiver...

What we'll do for a dish

I hauled my 10.5 Raydx the same way, it stuck out the sides a bit and seemed pretty high. I don't have pictures of it that I can remember. I like the fast get-a-way, set it on strap it down and roll. Having people watch me take their stuff apart bugs me, so, I like the grab and go.:up

    Fro 0-100 in 2 months,I'm Now a BUD owner!

Always great to hear another Birdview is saved. Mine was in a scrap pile. It now resides on a tall post behind the house. Like Lone Clouds, it's easy to access from the roof. Michael

    Need Birdview experts!

OK, if you look at the pivot pin side of the rack gear (top) you should see a spacer like round piece with notches in it. It is between the rack and cast frame of the transmission. The notches are for a tool (screwdriver, allen wrench, rod, whatever) to turn the offset bearing in the cast frame...

    Need Birdview experts!

I just finished putting up my birdview solid. When I was cleaning up the upper pivot/rack gear I found the offset sleeve bearing completely seized on the pivot so the sleeve was pivoting on the frame. This sleeve is for setting the gear spacing with the worm gear. This bearing should be held in...

Von Weise motor on a Birdview

I had the Von Weise motor from my Birdview dish checked out at the local electric motor service shop. The tech said the commutator is worn too thin to turn on the lathe and he can't find brushes for it. Help! Where do I get parts or a replacement motor?

    Adventures in Dish Hunting 2008

Lots to update since Thursday, I picked up a 20' 6" pipe same size as the pedestal mount. I see how there is a plate welded inside for support and the big threaded bolt. I decided to just fill the whole pipe with concrete and drill and tap more bolts on the mount, maybe bury a bolt in the...

    Adventures in Dish Hunting 2008

Well, I got it home after dark that night, took the pictures the next morning. I gotta say, that dish has more growing on it than any dish I have seen in the forums so far. I got it torn down last night, it came apart fairly easy, nice design. Broke two of the rods at the threads, drilled and...

    FTA receiver opinions needed

Just got 'approval' to install another dish (W5 DSR410). This will free up the other for adding FTA aside the 922. I have looked at what some of what you guys have listed in your equipment, but still would like opinions.

    w5 & dsr 410

Well all that sells me. I have done a 180 from a couple weeks ago. Almost got rid of the 10.5 Raydx. Now I am 'approved' to put up another dish. I have an old fiberglass Channel Master which will be dedicated to 105*. All the channels she watches are on the W5, so she gets her own dish. That...

    Shrinking dish :(

I seem to have had a revelation overnight. This venting thing does have some merit. After I started the thread, I thought about what I was contemplating all week and realized, "yeah, I'm an idiot:rolleyes:". I never got the dish for fancy tv. I love radio and the dish is part of the hobby...
