    my first own TV was a handout from grandma (pliers not included). Didn't care it was BW, I could watch TV and play NES on my own schedule. I can relate to all the adjustments, the pliers, the coat hanger, the electrical discharges, the horizontal/vertical hold.

    Just placed it on pause with a 211k with external HDD. The DVR recordings work fine, plus the shopping channels and any free previews. Not bad for $5 + tax.

    Using the package comparison tool I see the shopping channels (QVC, ShopHQ, Gems, etc) and other fillers are listed under AT120 but not Dish America. Am I correct to assume you don't get the fillers under DA?

    according to the fine print it says I have to maintain service for 6 months, what is not clear is if I have to keep service for an additional three months or an additional 6 months

    So I just got a new JVC head unit and the SXV200 module. I subbed and went with the free three months promo. What is not clear to me is for how many additional months I should remain on "all access" after the promo ends. Anybody has experience with this promo? My intention is to go down to select.

    Attached is a Welcome pack channel list in excel format. I created it to see how many channels are free or "public interest". I also included online stream links for some of them. From the 57 channels, about 23 could be considered basic cable (ie, you cannot freely watch them online or FTA).

    Texas double taxes satellite services. The "State Recovery fee" is added to my bill like a package, at the same level as AT200, so TX residents get taxed for it.

    It is 24 hrs once you start watching. To be safe, record the movie multiple times. The 24 hour rule applies to the specific recording you began to watch.

    Tell me if my logic is flawed. If I'm watching the Cards game on ESPN right now, then it means I'm not being blacked out, therefore I don't need to be told to go check my "local listings" or visit the "where's my game" page. Maybe I'm missing something.

    Canceling because of move and keeping DVR recordings

    You have a few days before the receiver looses activation. Unplug the receiver from the dish before canceling service. You can still watch the recordings, however it is unknown for how long it will work, could be two days, could be two weeks. Depending on how much stuff you have, it may be best...

    if you don't mind the two year contract, you could sign up for AT120 then after the promos are gone you could downgrade.
