    103 Satellite ?

Those transponders have been switched off for a few days. Most are assuming they were offloaded to Directv11 at 99°. :)
  2. mcbeevee

Do I need my dish peaked?

Your HD locals are on 99(s). I've noticed my mpeg-4 HD signals on 103(c) drop during rain much more than my 101 signals. Not much you can do if your signal strengths are in the 80'-90's besides waiting on the rain to stop/slow down. :)

    Powerline w/ a switch?

I have a Netgear powerline adapter in my living room that is feeding a 4-port Netgear switch. Bought it on e-bay instead of Directv, but it should work the same. Only using 2 of the 4 ports on the switch for my 2 HR20's, but everything works OK. :)

2 TVs one HD, one SD

If you were wanting to use coax cable to feed the 2nd tv, you will need an RF modulator to convert one of the Composite (RCA) outputs to RF. :)

    Mpeg2 & 4 question

Try this link. If you mouse over the channel number, it will show the other alternate/virtual channels (if any). DIRECTV High Definition Channels :)

SeaLaunch Current Mission: Directv 11 Launch

Directv10 launched on 7/7/2007 and new programming did not start until late Sep-07 (around 80 days). Since Directv11 is starting at the equator, it should take less time. My guess is 45-60 days. :)

When will Directv ADD more HD?

    May-2008 :)

Need info on what dish I will need

You only need one dish (5-lnb Slimline). Since you will have more than 4 connections (3 for SD boxes/2 for HD-DVR), you will also need a Zinwell WB68 multiswitch. Make sure you have good signal strength readings on 101 (main SD channels), 103c (new HD channels) and 103s (Knoxville HD locals)...

    February 6th HD Local Channels?

Charleston, SC is DMA #100, and Directv has added HD locals to 76 cities. :)

    HR21 To Get OTA Tuner

    - The HR21 does not have an OTA tuner, so it can't receive OTA stations - The hard drive in the HR20-100 and HR21-700 is the same size...320gb - If you currently receive New Orleans locals, you should have access to HD locals through Directv. If you are in a smaller market, you probably have...

    Directv10 Satellite Launch Broadcast

Live Broadcast: ILS will begin the broadcast/webcast about 8:55 p.m. EDT (7/6/2007). DIRECTV customers can view the launch on channel 570. :D

best receiver for simultaneous HD and SD

Actually, the input to the RF modulator is composite (yellow/red/white cable). I have an H20 feeding an HD tv with hdmi, and 2 other tv's with coax via a RF modulator. :)

New HD Channels with 3 LNB Dish

If the D10 launch in June goes OK, some of the new HD national channels should start by early September. :D
  15. mcbeevee

    What equipment to get?

On the flip side, if you wait on the launch, and everything goes as scheduled, there will be a high demand for the new HD dish and receivers. This will probably cause a backlog with the hardware and it will take longer to get an install scheduled. :)
  16. mcbeevee

    What equipment to get?

I would recommend getting the standard Zinwell WB68 multiswitch when the dish is installed. This would give you up to 8 total lines, which will help if you upgrade to the 2-line DVR's in the future. The 119° satellite usually gives most of the sight problems. The new HD channels will be in...

Possible Hd Dates Are Set !!

The "common sense" date would be before the NFL season starts, since you know D* does not want to turn off HD channels for Sunday Ticket like they did last year. That is assuming the launch/testing of Directv10 goes OK. :)

Need some help with upgrade path

All new dish installs are using the AU-9 (Slimline) 5-lnb dish. You could go ahead and upgrade the dish (for free), then when HD locals are turned on in your area, try to negotiate an upgrade to the HR20. You could also add an H20 (free) which would allow you to watch the new mpeg-4 HD...

    New 5nlb dish, old receivers?

My old Hughes HD receiver is still working ok with the new Slimline dish. It is set to a 3-lnb dish. :)

    Activating a new receiver?

The last CSR I talked to could not believe I setup a HR20 by myself (already had dish and other receivers active). I told her I hooked up a couple of cables, plugged it in, and turned it on...installation complete! :)

    HR20 and H20 receivers questions?

The current firmware on the H20 does not support interactive functions. There was a beta version about a month ago that added the interactive functions, so the national release should be coming soon. The HR20 does not currently support VOD, but it is something that also is coming soon...

AV Switch for H20 and HR10

If you only need HDMI, try the 5x1 HDMI switch from monoprice.com ($90). It has an IR remote to switch between the inputs. Works great with HR20, H20, & hdmi dvd player feeding a tv with only 1 hd input. :)
