    Voom On Comcast?

umm Voom on Comcast - i would say "never" :) Comcast is very!!!!!!! conservative regarding any new channels or new ideas. Also IMO has been anti Rainbow from the start and still does not carry Fuse and other Rainbow channels on most systems. The only hope would be if your cable system...

All 10 VOOM Channels on Echostar will be on 61.5!

I have no LOS other than 61 degrees - so this is good news as I could subscribe to the HD pack for 10 bucks with the 5 dollar service fee. Will the other HD channels also be brought over to 61 .. HDNET and ESPN ?

The switch was flipped exactly at 3:00 AM EST

I was curious to see what the shutdown would look like – and was totally surprised not to see any crawls or even a simply broadcast announcement screen today. At 2:59 one of the Voom side shows finished up and at 3:00 AM – the screen simply went black and the satellite icon flashed red. Ok -...

Voomer moved to Comcast – initial thoughts

Unfortunately due to some very high trees, neither DISH nor DirecTV are available to me and as luck would have it Voom or Sky Angel are my only satellite options. I’ve therefore had to sign-up for Comcast silver plan with HD … my thoughts thus far: - In New England expect to pay between 85-90...

    Iridium Satellite Phone ?

I purchased 500 mins @ $550 - service in any part of the world - plus free SMS messages. Irony is that this is cheapter than some Sprint roaming plans in Canada which equal about $3 per minute :)

    Iridium Satellite Phone ?

I’m going on location in the Galapagos Islands shooting a documentary (using cine Alta HDCAM) next month and after some careful research I decided on Iridium to stay in touch with home. I looked the nearest competitor, Globalstar but they simply do not have the reach of Iridium. I also liked...

    MALONE TESTS A FAMILY'S TIES (NYPost) 03.13.05

Currently fiber is being used for some theatre HD - PTP, and I can’t see Voom making this part its business plan.

Letter from Inverstors to Chuck: (Voom/Echostar merge?)

All speculation – fat lady has not begun to sing. Monday should be interesting. In the mean team – enjoy your Voom service. If you don’t have Voom go for a walk :)

Harmonic Encoder Improvements? (Feedback Need it)

Sean - I'm not sure I agree. My Sony LMD230WS LCD is incredibly unforgiving in regards to pixilation and compression and I can report all channels including SD show marked improvement IMO. Voom PQ will never look as good as orginal source material out of my HDCAM deck - however it is...

Need the Following information From Voom Subs

My Sony LMD230WS LCD is incredibly unforgiving in regards to pixilation and compression and I can report all channels including SD show marked improvement. Interesting for me to toggle between HD-SDI (Final CutPro / Kona Card - 4:4:4 source) and HD component (Voom) - I see little difference...

Voom can be closed down in 30 days. Is it really dead this time?

HDNEWS did not shut down - Billnut I laugh at how scientific people are ..... “HDNEWS doesn’t work for me” therefore VOOM is ceasing operations :) hmmmm The WORST part of the next few weeks will be people jumping to wild conclusions, posting paranoia and unproven facts.

Echostar to sell VoOm receivers and Programming via VoOm??

This thread is misleading and an overreaction based on little fact. I wish Sean would re-edit the title or pull it.

    What chanels will be added?

More retro programming with Goodlife Television would be my vote as they are not currently carried on either DISH or DIRECT. Time Warner began carrying Goodlife in the New York area and the response has been positive.

New Software testers (Beta intentional or not), speak up and be counted

I applaud Sean for taking a stand on this forum – i've seen many good software developer programs shut down because of anonymous forum postings from beta testers. Software beta testers who break confidentially rules slow down development and cause marketing issues. Your need to “know” three...

New Sat Scheduled to Launch in Oct, x2 capacity

I have INHD 1/2 as Comcast throws it into my local digital package. I'm shocked at how people seem to want this "gem", more so they can simply say they have it and not for the the actual programming. Like kids that collect comic books and don't read them. The proof is totally in previous posts...

    811 & new subscriber question

I'm a current Voomer and would like to add an 811 receiver for HDNET and to try out DISH HD. To be eligible for the new member free 811 receiver offer ($49.95 service charge) do I need to subscribe to any of the core packages such as AT120 – or can I just subscribe to the 9.95 HD package...

What would you pay for VOOM DVR?

Ken F - if we followed your theory a Dodge NEON would cost 170K - as you're building it in parts. One can't estimate unit cost this way.
