    What took me so long?

I didn't get the second year discount (regional) , but a friend of mine works for a national retailer for D* and he was able to swing an additional $5/mo and a $150 gift card. Now I just need to find a deal on the Sunday Ticket!!! I finally got the internet working as well, and I finally got...

    What took me so long?

Well, yesterday we made the jump from E* to D*. For a long time, E* was just cheaper for our setup- we could run two rooms of the DVR without any additional fees. We got in one their early HD only packages and saved some cash. Then they took away a few channels. Then the receiver died. Then...

    Not so smooth install

installer coming back today (maybe) to hook up the internet part. I guess that's the "professional internet install" the website talks about.

    Not so smooth install

yea, I just tried it, the Ethernet jack on the HR24 is now inactive that the MVR is working. It doesn't even light up my switch when it's plugged in.

    Not so smooth install

so do I NEED a broadband bridge if I have an ethernet cable sitting right by the DVR? Should I just plug it in and see what happens? I already have an Airport Express hooked up to a switch in the Ent Center which gives my AVR, Blu Ray, etc intenet connectivity.

    Not so smooth install

Okay, I got home and now it looks like everything is working. Now, I've tried to use the iPhone app to schedule some recordings, but it doesn't work. I'm guessing that's what the internet connection is for? Now what, can I plug in the Ethernet cable, or do I still need something else? The D*...

    Not so smooth install

There's no DECA. They put a splitter at my main switch box there's a black box plugged into power with two coax cables- one from the wall and one to the dvr. Then there's the hr24 and the h24. They told me not to plug in my Ethernet cable because it would interfere with the MRV. Tech didn't...

    Not so smooth install

Okay, today's the big day. Installers show up for my two tv DVR and HD receiver setup. Yes, those are 24 series on the truck. Out with the Dish equip and in with the new. Took about an hour. Then they tell me the MRV is not on my account and they cant set up the whole home DVR because its not on...

    D* DVR reliability vs E*

for whatever it's worth I'm on my 4th 622 from E* in the past 9 months, and it's out in the open in my basement... First two had "power failures" and would just enter a continual reboot cycle, the last one had a HD failure... my D* install is tomorrow... here's to hoping the new equip lasts a...

    New Directv Installation

Thanks for the info, I started digging around a few pages back and found some better comparisons as well. I guess I need to demand (nicely) HR24 for the DVR, plus, one less box from what I can tell (DECA built in or something). I guess I just cancel the install if they don't have one? EDIT...

    New Directv Installation

I too am getting an install tomorrow- one DVR and one reciever. What would be the alternative if not the 24 series? Why should I ask for this over something else? Just curious, I see everyone say that on the boards but not why, I'd like to sound informed tomorrow in case it becomes an issue. Thanks.

Jumping ship... from Dish to DTV

Okay, now that I'm on my 4th 622 receiver in the past 9 months, and the fact that Dish just keeps sending me new receivers without even thinking or asking what's up, and refusing to try something different (I dunno, maybe try a model that hasn't been discontinued?) I'm fed up- and I told them...

    Official 922 Release Notice

no TV2 coax is probably a deal breaker for me. bummer, I was looking forward to this... amazing they would REMOVE a feature that sets them apart from the other guys...

    622 dead?

I've been wanting to use that feature anyways. Do I have to pay a fee for the 'new' unit when I get it hooked up?

    622 dead?

Okay, so now the receiver works again. My replacement arrived today. What do you think, was it a glitch or is my 622 dying? I can go with the new one anyways, I loose all my content, but now I have a refurb that was returned previously for another problem. I've read on here they don't always...

    622 dead?

had my 622 for just over a year, now the green light comes on for a few seconds, the screen is blank, and then it shuts off. the fan sounds like it's running overtime, but the air coming out the side is cool. once I got to the 'acquiring satellites' screen, but it quickly reset again. I call...

    "Turbocharged" 622 now acting up

I've also had a bunch of yellow screens during the olympics. I haven't seen that anywhere else, I'm hoping it's an NBC thing and not dish.

    "Turbocharged" 622 now acting up

Ever since the little "TurboHD" icon with the message that our 622 has been turbocharged popped up, we have been having problems with our DVR. Live TV works fine, except I don't watch any live TV- it's all off the DVR. We never had problems with it before. The biggest problem is occasionally...

Almost Comical Chat with Dish online rep regarding "No Phone Line Fee"

When I first got dish, no one told me about the 'no phone line fee.' the installer asked if we had a phone line, I told him no, he said 'no problem' and that was it. later, looking around online, I found out about the fee. I called and got the same basic run-around. I told them to cancel my...

How to record shows from my 622 DVR onto my laptop??

you can grab a video converter at your local big box electronics stores for less than $50. You connect the video from the dvr to the converter and it will send the video to your PC via USB or Firewire. Usually in some MPEG format. The more you spend the more options you get. some of the newer...

    622 & Multiple UHF Remotes

read the manual, it will tell you how to set the remote channel, they all need to be the same. I think you hold down the sat button until it stays lit and then press the corresponding channel on the remote, but I don't remember off the top of my head. you know they the TVs will be the same...

can I do TV1 and TV2 with 2 different UHF remotes?

KAB- For whatever it's worth, I was able to get the Next Gen to work with multiple devices. Turns out, the receiver itself generates an IR beam. So I have the receiver 2 feet away from my devices in the basement, and it can control both from one spot. I don't even use the little IR emitter that...
