Digital Breakup on 101 C Band

Plus the down link sites are using larger antennas so a weaker signal might not be causing an issue.

    Dead Openbox I think

The Titanium Satellite ASC1 positioner is a fantastic unit. The Manhattan STB is nice as well.

Digital Breakup on 101 C Band

Still breaking up on both a Manhattan and a Amiko. Good on a X2 mini though.

Digital Breakup on 101 C Band

Both decades and H & I are extremely low..not watchable on Manhattan and Amiko but still hanging good on X2 mini.

Digital Breakup on 101 C Band

Wonder what gear the stations are using receiver wise ? Probably 6 meter antennas or something along that size.

Digital Breakup on 101 C Band

Did not think to check any differences. The Q level is still unstable on the Manhattan. An Amiko on the same system is better than last night where it had no signal at all. The X2 mini has never faltered.

Digital Breakup on 101 C Band

A fresh scan this morning has Hero's back at 3951 with a signal at 86 and Q at 70% but still lots of breaking up on a Manhattan DJ-1997. However a X2 mini premium on the same system never has lost Hero's and has no breaking up.

    A sure sign of spring

This phenomenon only happens twice a year. Once in the spring and again in the fall. The satellites and the sun line up and the noise of the sun in the dish overwhelm the satellite signal for a few minutes. I always like to see this because I know that spring is just around the corner.

    Unkown H2H

We sold lots of those same mounts. I am not sure where we got them but they were a very good mount. Our company was Antenna Development & manufacturing in Poplar Bluff Mo. We used them on a perforated 10 foot dish (see photos).

Getting close to sun outage time.

The sun outage always reminds me that it's time for the seasons to change. I guess folks with the offset feeds can't see it coming. This will be my 33rd year of seeing this.

    Almost sunspot time 2013

Since I began working with satellite systems in 1979, I always liked when this happened. Although we loose service for a brief time, it also means that spring is near.

New feed for an old dish

At first I was afraid the thin metal of the stove pipe was going to make this very unstable but after tightening all of the bolts it came fairly sturdy. With a little more experimentation I think it would be stronger and would support any size feed. The original housing was .90 gauge aluminum so...

New feed for an old dish

At the time when we began (1978-79) that was about all that was available except using a dual feed but the LNA's were 1500 bux a piece. I can remember trucks delivering full pallets of the tenna-rotors. Memory lane for sure.

New feed for an old dish

Here are the photos I took of the improvised rebuild of the feed support of an older 10' perforated antenna. I also included some shots of an original feed system from my 11' ADM which was actually the second version for my old dish. The first version was an alliance brand TV antenna rotor that...

New feed for an old dish

Yes Karl thats what it is. The original feed had the then polorotor held on an L bracket that would slide to adjust the focal distance. Some of the other antennas of that era didn't allow for a slide feature to let you peak the focal point for max signal. I am going to shoot some photos of an...

New feed for an old dish

Yes the total overall weight of the original 11 footer was 500lbs that included the mount. If you were around in those days you had to of heard of Bob Cooper. he wrote "Coops Digest" which was the bible of the day. His publications included magazines that chronicled the cable vision industry...
