Its only a few miles from me, buddy of mine's dad has it....they are on the "pizza" world since about 10 or more years ago.....

It's a Winegard dish, best use may be for W-5 SRL for someone....but she's been damaged by something very tall. (it was either a semi trailer or a forklift, both tend to be on this property for business. The shape is bent back on itself on what we would call "lower left" as you look into the dish. about from 7 O'clock to 10 or 11 might best describe it. Frame bent.

Will it bend to fix, or more likely break? Re-shapeable? Mesh seems rolled, not crimped or bent. Actuator likely shot, (no biggie.) I'm sure I can have the (tall) pole free, too and my buddy can cut it off, so we can shorten it on its "next life."

Got this from the same person who just gave me their former DTN (Channlel master .75 meter dish when I changed their DTN dish for a system upgrade for them.--DTN only wanted the LNB back, not the whole dish, likely from shipping costs.) Not sure what I want to do with the smaller DTN dish yet! Will put that story in another more proper thread.

Do I have metal scrap, or potential here? I'm spoiled by installing and using Birdview....but always up for a new challenge if I can bring someone to the H2H/SRL side!

Looks to me like the mesh got the worst of whatever it was. If you're looking for a bud, you're looking for a bud. And this is one. You could probably get it pretty close to the right shape by eye. What's the worst that's going to happen? Poor reception? You can always recycle it yourself if/when you come across a better one. I'd grab it if it was me. But, that's me.
Cadsulfide
It'll straighten out pretty well and should be an ok dish, I wouldn't use it for feed hunting but it should be great as a fixed dish.
Lone Gunman
Dunno, that one is horked up pretty good and there's no way to get the mesh out to straighten it. GAWD, I never seen a Winegard dish with a button hook LNB mount before?? I got a 12 foot Conifer on the ground 40 miles from the house to bring home with a button hook that was originally installed in 1983. Dish is good and I have a late model LNBF to put on it once it's up on the post.

If you take the button hook off and lay the dish on something flat (concrete driveway or garage floor) it will give you something to work with. Some pieces of 2x4" lumber can do wonders when you got a large RUBBER mallet. Whether the mesh comes back though is a crap shoot. Probably zero chance of getting a new panel for it. As others have said, if it 's free then the price is right and you'll only have time and effort in whatever you wind up with. The actuator is probably worth taking it down and home so "Go fer it Bubba"!

FYI, I straightened a bent mesh panel that was on my 7.5ft SAMI Dish with a rubber mallet on a concrete floor in my garage and it worked GREAT and I'm getting within 10 to 12 points of the quality I get on my 10ft Winegard with it. Your mileage may vary though! ;-) Good luck!!

My 10' mesh got hit by a tree limb and looked like a giant black potato chip. Took it down and without feedhook laid it on the garage floor. Wrestled and bent it until it laid flat.

Mine had 12 ribs and a couple were bent. I took a scrap of wood panel and made a template of the good ones and bent and beat the bad ones to the same contour. Had to flatten it out on the floor again. Also taped diameter about 8 ways to get it round. My mesh was removable after prying the aluminum strips around it, so it could be laid on the floor and malleted.

I had another time that the mesh was stretched badly by a golf ball. Took it to a sheet metal shop. The guy ran it back & forth through a pair of rolls and it flattened. Some of the mesh holes were ovals and others squeezed almost shut but it flattened.

Still using that dish for C & Ku even though I've picked up a few spares since.
sergei
It an 8 footer and it looks like the one I got a few years back that was sold by Zenith and manufactured by Winegard and the actuator should still be good as I'm using mind on another dish and it's heavy duty. Get it as what do you have to lose, and if not repairable you can sell it for scape and make a few dollars. Just remember it's a heavy mount to get down.

Now in the Hornets and Hurricanes markets we just get the TV promise screen. But Directv still charges sports fee I am assuming.
Luckily my DTV stream package doesn't have a rsn fee. Figure DTV that always says is the leader in sports would have come to an agreement by now.

Now in the Hornets and Hurricanes markets we just get the TV promise screen. But Directv still charges sports fee I am assuming.
Greenville-New Bern is $11.99 for MASN (Orioles) and Nationals
Raleigh is $11.99 for MASN and Nationals
Charlotte is $12.99 for BravesVision, MASN, Nationals and Reds

The fee in NC also includes the higher in state rate they have to pay for ACCN. Down in SC the fee is $15.99 as they are also a SEC state.
I'm not sure if they're doing it with those teams, but in some markets they also use the fee to cover the additional cost they have to pay for independents and MyNet stations that picked up full season NHL and NBA rights.

If you go to the TVPromise site, you'll likely be able to get a credit for not getting the Hurricanes and additional Hornets games that air on WITN-D2

Figure DTV that always says is the leader in sports would have come to an agreement by now.
Part of the hold out might be the packaging and price for outer areas like how the Thunder needs sports pack for other states. Hopefully they are also pushing for a guarantee from the teams that they would require whoever wins their local broadcasting rights in 2028 to negotiate with MVPDs. Commercial distribution rights are probably a factor too.

I'm guessing they got a deep discount for the Clippers based on how long it took them to officially announce ClipperVision and their KTLA simulcasts after they were basically handed a multi-year draft death penalty.

The Predators and Pistons channels are using feeds supplied by Scripps Sports

The Heat likely depends on whoever they sign for the Fort Myers DMA, as there's no point in paying a high price for the Heat just for that DMA when WPLG is streaming it for free on their app and website for viewers in the Miami DMA, and they already carry the West Palm Beach station.

Still hate weekly releases though, especially the way Disney and HBO do it waiting until 8pm to premiere it.

Apparently I'm not a big enough nerd🤓 since I did not read every Marvel Comic Book ever published. If I had, I might be comparing the comics' version of events compared to what's transpiring in "Visionquest". So, I am enjoying the series a lot, not weighed down by previous expectations, knowing only the Avengers MCU movies and the "Wandavision" / "Agatha All Along" TV series.

I found the Mr Know-it-All channel from his discussion about "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" and he's been gleefully picking these episodes apart, referencing the Marvel comics from the 1939 on. Turns out A.I. has been around since before World War II, at least in the comics. (Robots before that, yes, yes.) This show is going back into the archives.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

SpaceX has held talks with Boost's parent company EchoStar in recent months about launching its own signature wireless service through a deal with the company, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.
Musk, the SpaceX CEO, has discussed the deal personally, meeting with EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen last month, according to the people. The potential deal may result in SpaceX acquiring Boost Mobile or SpaceX gaining access to its network, which it leases from AT&T and T-Mobile US, the people said.
Access to those lease agreements would be a coup for SpaceX. The back door would allow Musk to make a play for a U.S. wireless market that equity research firm MoffettNathanson estimates is worth $235 billion. But the proposed service may need consent from those carriers for the service to actually launch, the people said.

Can't remember where or who I saw predict this. :D

It wouldn't surprise me to see Elon soon own all of DISH / Echostar in the future.

Again, why would Musk want a TV Service, specially one that is losing over a million subscribers a year.

Phone service…maybe, but not TV.

I know he wants TV. He wants to deliver EVERYTHING to EVERYWHERE.
Again, if so, why would he want Dish/Sling of all the providers?

He could deliver anything without actually owning, for example, watching the Lions game in my Tesla Y on it's screen via the YT app, while on the way to my future in-laws on Sunday.

Just a guess on my part but there may be some value to aquring to get all the retransmision agreements that are in place even though at some point they need to be renewed

If Musk really wants to buy Boost, he might get a great price once Dish Wireless is out of Chapter 11.

Boost just lost 182,000 subs in the 3rd quarter-

Is Dish like Iran in one way...they both will totally collapse by end of week :)

Other than the price, my experience with Boost is not that different than what I experienced with my years with Cricket. I will be curious to see what happens if SpaceX takes the reins.

I have Dish with Hopper3. I choose to get local channels OTA and had a "guide list" established at my previous home. Having moved a few miles away, I wanted to update the list by appending a couple new stations via a rescan. As many would know, some stations come in with the UHF/VHF antenna aimed in one direction, while others come in better with a different direction.

Unfortunately, when a scan is done (bringing in 25-30 stations for that particular antenna aim), the dialog screen does not present the established guide list; it presents an empty field to the right that the scanned stations may be selected one by one and added to the empty guide. But because of antenna aim, some stations originally saved are missing, and would have to be retrieved with a different antenna aim. But as I explain, if a 2nd scan is done with a different antenna aim, the stations saved from the first scan are lost.

It troubles me that Dish didn't develop software that would allow a user to simply append only 1 or 2 channels to the established list.

Any thought on this? Has anyone experienced this or heard of this from others?

I could very well be wrong....it has been a LOT of years but back when I had a 722K it seemed like when you went back to the scan screen that you could just scan again and it would ADD those channels to the previous list or you could delete the previous results and only add the channels from the new scan.

I am not sure about that but I do know that you could manually add additional channels just by entering the actual RF channel number and the older receivers would add the virtual channels to your list

Like I said.....that has been many years ago. Swapped my 722K for a Hopper in 2012.

It does seem like I remember having to delete the existing channels when we did a rescan. Back then our local stations KEPT monkeying around with things and it was non-stop complaints from customers about their channels not coming in. Got so bad that I stopped selling OR installing OTAs....something I had been doing since 1984 so you know it HAD to be pretty bad.
