I have a month old Venture Maxi Ball and today when moving dish, i got ASC1 error that the dish might be blocked. I checked the wires behind the ASC1, and I checked the wires on the Motor. I then un screwed them and then re-screwed them on just to verify there wasn't a hiccup somewhere... NOTHING. The dish moves fine. It nudges east or west but the pulses aren't making it to the ASC1??

How can i test trouble shoot where the problem is coming from.
Its gotta be :

1. Wire issue
2. ASC1 issue
3. Reed Sensor Issue

:wtf

Same here. I do a lot of bumping East and West and I mean A LOT. I have yet to have an out of sync issue from the ASC1.

Now I have had out of sync issues.
Every time it was something on the dish that was not quite secure.
Especially when I drove it to the limits. If something was not good and tight, the weight and extra force exerted would pull it out just a bit.
Sometimes you have to get someone to move the dish for you or take your positioner out to the dish to SEE it. Then you do a facepalm and all is well. :)
If you are having trouble finding what is going out of alignment. Make little marks on everything! Dish mount to pole, elevation, declination, actuator mount, everything.
Then run the dish all the way East then all the way West a couple of times and go check your marks. ;)

Here is the first test. I went from 127 to 43 back to 127, and then repeated to 43 and back to 127 one additional time. The signal quality remained the same at each of the satellite transponder locks.

Because, I knew everything was off (by more than 10 ticks) west of that, i then used the east/west buttons on the ASC1 remote and the Diseqc Commands through the STB to do the (bigger east/west jumps) . to re-obtain 131,133,135 and 139. I then jumped to 43w and transponder lock was at exact same quality. I then jumped all the way back to 139w and signal lock at same quality.

okay (walking over to ASC1) Okay, now with the front panel, I am programming in everything between 105w and 91w because that was all previously off. I then jumped down to 43w. No signal lock. I had to nudge the dish West 4 ticks to get it back to the same signal quality. And same with 55w and 58w as i moved back up the arc. I then went back to the other side at 139, had to nudge 4 ticks to west. Then as one last final jumped to 43 (all good) and back to 139 (all good).

So, sometime when adding (105w-91w) i went off by 4 ticks. Okay, I will stay away from the front panel for a time being and see if it stays in sync. Titanium, i wouldn't call this conclusive. Although this particular situation seemed to re-produce the error count via the front panel, let me sit on this a few more days to see if it gets off by NOT using the front panel.

Are you doing it through the remote, or by physically pressing the East West buttons on the actual box?

My East/West jumps are programmed on my JP1 remote with the STB. So, i nudge all the time too with the remote buttons. However, if i am trying to get a lot of satellites back in sync, i find it much faster to sit on the floor in front of the device, and press the buttons and save on the front panel box.

A little confused with the description of the testing and programming method. I am unable to follow the reprogramming process mixed in with the movement tests and what steps influenced the count. It isn't possible to determine if the movement control, the saving of a position or ???? results in a count error.

Maybe the tests can be done again now that all satellites are in sync and we might determine how the sync can be lost?

Give me a call when you have time and inclination to test. Would be easier to talk through the process in real time rather than trying to describe in emails or posts.

In any event, we'll update this thread with the findings.

For some reason, the satelliteguys.us site is loading a lot slower than usual on both Chrome on my Asus laptop and Safari on my iPhone.
I'm also seeing longer appearances of the blue bar at the top and the "3 blue bars" loading symbol.
Is anyone else also having the same problem? Thanks in advance.

Yeah. It's probably something going on with the MacBook as my iPhone has been pretty snappy.

I rebooted my MacBook Air and it's zipping right along. Sorry, but it was taking over 20 seconds to load pages, with the pulsing blue bars so it was munching on something.

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. Just had a customer come in inquiring about internet. He has HughesNet and had heard good things about mine. He asked if we provided email addresses and it kinda caught me off guard. I said he should be able to keep whatever email he had been using....my sister in law is still using a BellSouth email addy and they haven't been around here for many years. He said he had gotten a letter from HughesNet stating that they had until Nov 16th to save, move, forward, whatever, their Hughesnet emails because they would lose them after that date.

I have never heard of a company simply mass-deleting email accounts (the customer still has his HughesNet service). From what I understand, in the past, the company who was ditching their email service simply sold the customer base to a company like Google.

Anyone else getting this letter. He said he would show it to me tomorrow when I go out there and set up his internet.

Doing a Google of the HughesNet Email notice, it seems that HughesNet has been trying to eliminate hosting emails since 2019. And with HughesNet filing Chapter 11 back in August, it would be a smart move to switch to a more stable Email provider. Even AT&T farmed out their Email to Yahoo! years ago.

SpaceX's Starlink and the Cellular 5G Home Internet solutions have pretty much relegated HughesNet and its high latency, low bandwidth Internet service to History. If Earth had shorter days, maybe a Geostationary Internet Solution might have stood a fighting chance…

Well, I helped him set up a gmail acct....I actually wanted to see what the new process is for setting up a gmail acct since it had been years since I set mine up. Anyway, I showed him how to forward the emails he wanted to keep over.

Can't help but wonder if a worker overlooked checking the harness. I rarely ride a roller coaster anymore but when I do I check the harness myself pretty aggressively.
Can't imagine what the son is going through.

Back on the Goliath Roller Coaster ... I'm interested to find more details as well ...
Like where on the track did this happen (somewhere I read that it was on the climb up the top), which is impossible ...

They really need to take that ride and add at the very least, seatbelts ...

The Park is opening back up on Friday, the ride will Not be opening ... personally, I would keep it closed until different type of restraints can be designed and installed (over the winter).

I find it hard to believe that this ride is even allowed to be running with the restraints that exist at the moment, there are other rides that use the same type and they have been shut down across the country.

You got to believe that every ride has at least 2 types of restraint systems in place.

I wonder what and when we will hear from the Manufacturer ... and whatever governing bodies control these ...

Just think, this is a Major Amusement Park .... I would not have any problem getting on the Roller Coasters I have rode ...

Imagine what these County Fairs and others like them, I would not be caught Dead on one of them ... they get put up and tore down every other week, where is the safety for those rides ... No Thank You.

Yet IF you were on one, you might be caught dead.

Had no idea there were that many redundancies built into those restraints.

It makes sense, however, I would want more types of restraints, so if one doesn't work, the other does ... the restraints coming over the shoulder I would have expected ... with a Seat belt as last resort.

Fwiw, I inquired with what they use on Coasters at Cedar Point, various Coasters, different restraints according to what the car and track requires ...

NONE of the Coasters at CP use THAT particular system :)
I'm glad to see ...

According to the article, when you see a seat belt on a ride like this, it is basically used as a way of making sure the rider isn't too large/fat to safely ride the ride.

I just received 6 receiver 2 port mini Multiswitch and it work great, no external power need it, and you can connect 6 receiver instead of 4 on most Mini Multiswitches... If anyone is interested in where they can get one PM me....

Have you tested using external power? Over the years, have found unpowered polarity switching to be unreliable. Especially problematic when used with DiSEqC motors or switch stacking.
H
No I have not. I just got it the other day and it is connected to six receivers working just fine. What I do is non power mini multi-switches work best with LNBF's and with LNB's
