Have both indoor and outdoor antenna. Outdoor is 10 ft up, preamp. UHF 4 bay Channel Master. Indoor is a flat antenna on wall for hi-VHF, with an amp. Tried disconnecting all amps, with amps. Having intermittent interference at the same time on both antennas. Have made sure nothing electrical from at least my end is affecting this. I haven't changed my setup in any way. I did disconnect the A/B switch and plugged each antenna into antenna input into tv and checked signal strength. It reads between 86-100, 94 being the average with 86 being the threshhold, but even at a reading of 94, sometimes it wants to pixelate. Thats the interference I'm referring to. Only thing I have thought of are the heat pumps at night. But then since they also are used for A/C, seems like they would've affected reception then too. Can't figure out where interference is coming from. Again, happens both with and without amps attatched, have removed switch to test, and happens at the same time on both indoor and outdoor antennas. Definitely more pronounced at night, and has just started this past week, when the weather got cooler. Any thoughts? Thanks. Andy

How close is the indoor antenna to the TV and how long is the run to the UHF antenna?

I'd try running a new, properly terminated cable as a test. If the problem goes away, you have cabling (or connectors) that have failed. Lowes sells a nice pre-fab 100' RG6 quad shield with compression connectors for under $27. They also offer a much less spectacular crimp-type dual shield for under $20. Shorter lengths are cheaper if you can get away with it. Other home improvement, hardware and department stores have their versions of these products.

If the interference doesn't go away, you have a new source of interference that you didn't have before or the TV itself may be the problem.

Rain makes things interesting as what used to be insulated by air may now be occupied by water that can be an unpredictable electrolyte.

As always, make sure you don't have any kinks in the cabling and that any bends that you have are gentle (2" bend radius or greater). Cable that is kinked or crushed will eventually collapse and its transmission properties will be compromised.

I've went out today and bought new cabling from Lowes. Will try today. Also, indoor antenna is in kitchen, outdoor is on patio. Properly grounded. I'd estimate outdoor to tv is approx 100ft or less. New smart tv. Did make small turn in outdoor antenna last night and has helped signal strength. Hopefully between new wiring and slight turn this clears it up. Thanks for the advice. Andy

You carefully avoided answering my question about the distance to the indoor antenna.

If you were getting signals in the 90s before, this doesn't seem to be a reasonable expectation.

There's a bit of a conflict in your statement about your layout. The implication is that you're using an AB switch but you mentioned that you're having the problem on both antennas at "the same time".

You have to be extra careful when providing the setup details. It can't be both ways but if it appears to be, someone (such as myself) will go into a spin trying to reconcile.

It's always amazed me when people ask for help on OTA on many sites, and then most times you have to PULL all the info out of them with post after post before you get enough to figure out what's going on.

Andy, I'm not trying to target you or pick on you or anything like that. I'm just pointing out that many people (not just you) just never seem to give enough info to help right off the bat. So, we are left just repeating all generic info and hoping something helps. Other people that also need help might read this thread, see my post, and then realize they need to give just a little more info up front, that's all.

Fixing issues like this with digital tv is more black magic than anything else. Every situation is fairly unique, and needs to be thought about carefully. The more info the better for us to help.

Thanks for the understanding. To clarify, and I guess why I the length of cable and what not was so vague is because I'm just used to being able to "tinker" with my setup and honestly wasnt thinking of length or what have you, the run for the indoor is roughly 25-30ft. I'll give more detail to help you. It's an "Amazon Special" flat indoor with that very "thin" wire..meaning I can move the wire on the floor to the Mohu amp I have connected, that's about a total of 10 ft, then to a coupler, which then runs the other I'd say 10-15ft into A/B switch, then to tv. It's a flat antenna. Outdoor has the preamp from about a 5 ft wire, to the input, then i to house via backdoor straight to the power injector, then to A/B switch, then to tv. Actually that antenna is the 4 bay UHF and gets hi-VHF actual channels 9 and 13 (shows up channel 3 on tv.) 12 doesn't come in on that. But what I was really trying to figure out was the interference happens the same time just on the hi-VHF channels at the same time when it occurs. Most times at night. Today it has occured around 5pm. Not really happening on the UHF channels. I've tried plugging both coax lines directly into tv and taken A/B switch out of equation. Also tried without any amps or preamps. All signals are too weak at that point. I get horrible pixelation without the amps. On my smart tv, if the signal drops below 74, it starts that. Usually even when interference is occuring, for the most part I'm getting about 94%. Unfortunately, no bar to show spikes with lowest number and highest, just expressed in current %. When the wind blows hard, it does make a difference. I trimmed and cut a lot of limbs that were in LOS of outdoor antenna and it made a big difference. Still having some issues again with this. The small Mohu amp ks plugged into a power strip, tried another outlet, bad pixelation on indoor antenna. Nothing else in power strip. Wineguard power injector plugged into outlet. Have eliminated any source like microwave, coffee pot, lights, can opener, kinda baffled. Maybe winds, as I have a metal roof and even on outdoor antenna since it's only 10ft up? Thanks for the understanding and I hope this helps.

Also, using a mobile phone, not exactly sure how to copy and paste, but if you want to look at my tvfool report, my info is, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Stations I pull are WRCB, WTVC, WDEF, WTCI, WFLI, WDSI, WELF. WKSY and WNGH are usually present at night, I'm assuming since outdoor antenna is pointed towards Chattanooga, I get the other 2 at an angle and reflection from backside of antenna. Hope this helps.

Andy, the best I can advise you is to look at this thread I'm linking below and notice the sort of info needed to work through all the issues you have. You can make your own post in that forum and get help from people that really have the tools and knowledge to get you fixed up. Internal antenna inside a house with a metal roof is wasting your time to even play with. External, maybe with preamp and a splitter is the way to go. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/25-hd...mbining-feed-multiple-antennas-camden-sc.html

As the repack is coming, it may be worthwhile to investigate a full-range outdoor antenna mounted up high. WNGH is moving to RF 4 so the two substantially UHF antennas will be of zero help there. You didn't mention it, but WTNB is moving to RF 5. Mounting up high may also allow you to clear whatever electrical interferences there might be.

I don't agree with the assertion that a window-mounted mud flap is going to be negated by a metallic roof as it is mostly out from under it (assuming it is in a window on the station facing side of the house). While they are claimed to be omnidirectional, they really don't see much along the edges. If the back side of the antenna is shielded from signal, that's probably a good thing.

The thin wire on the mud flap is a bad thing. They can be very lossy and if you're amplifying it at the end of the thin wire, you may be only gaining back what was lost in the cable. Again, you need to be certain that the thin cable doesn't make any sudden bends as kinks in the cable may degrade its transmission capabilities. Each coupler represents a 1dB loss. Other devices (such as the A/B switch) have higher insertion losses.

Better yet, Andy should post a link to his tvfool results.

My recollection is that they are dismal at best with edges across the board.

Here's mine:

TV Fool

The results show city, state and Zip, but nothing that would otherwise allow someone to pin it down to a particular location (unless your estate has its own zip code).

Again, note that TVFool does NOT contemplate the post-repack landscape that will involve some stations changing frequencies and possibly broadcast antenna locations. That information can be obtained from rabbitears.info (as far as it is known today).

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

My Wife was recently in an antique store and saw a rotary desk phone and it had one of those sticker overlays that had a business listed with phone number under each number on the dial. She looked closer and it had my old Radio Shack listed under the 8...she bought it. Pretty cool keepsake. Back then I rented vhs movies as well so I had it listed as Radio Shack / Movie Gallery and then the phone number.

That is a misnomer. In the old days you subscribed to telephone service. That included the telephone line and one telephone. An extension cost $1 a month extra. So that $14,000 over 42 years was for the service not the leased telephone. There is no way they paid $28 a month for 42 years for a leased telephone.

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson had an argument about who was responsible for the dynasty building of the early 90's Cowboys.

The rest of us figured it out in about 3 years, Jerry has had over 30 years but still can't admit it. It's all he lives for, to show everyone he can put together a winner. I don't think he can. His kids only know what he taught them.

Week Six Balls and Goats and WTH is Going On in The NFL??

Browns. 1st place in the North. Yup. Believe it or not

Chiefs. Undefeated.

Titans. Won a game ! .... Colts I know, but still.

Saints. Won a game after a while.

Steelers. Having the same season they always have. They somehow find wins on their way to an unceremonial 1st round exit. Mike Tomlin is proud.

Cards. Won a game without scoring a single touchdown

Broncos. How they manage to win games with the dogshit offense they have should be studied.

Bears. Caleb's back and so is their mojo.

Goats

NFC East. For the 2nd straight week no team from this clown show of a division won a game. Eagles are cooked without Hurts. Who's not that good anyway. Commanders suck, Dallas is well ..... Dallas and the Giants have no QB.

Ravens. Lamar is out (as usual). But still. Losing to the Browns is never ok.

Chargers. Still can't win.

Rams. So much for the powerhouse team. They are 2 games under .500

Seattle. Lost to the offenseless Broncos.

Jerry made himself General Manager after he bought the team but make no mistake Jimmy engineered that trade. As well as a lot of others at the time.

Jimmy Johnson is a football guy. Jerry Jones is a marketer (hustler).

When I see a football player get a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (like taunting) in a close game, I often wonder what he was thinking. Was he thinking, I'm doing everything I can to make this a better team and help win a championship? Or, was he saying to himself, I want everyone to notice how great I am?

Johnson inspires one, Jones the other.

Hello folks, well my luck ran out last week with a nasty thunderstorm and after 39 years here, finally took a hit. Now, the FTA receivers I had for some years worked great until now. Recently picked up a fairly cheap receiver, online, KOQIT and seems to be good, but for the life of me, I cannot get the HDMI output to work with 3 of my Samsung monitors. I can hook it up to my Samsung TV and its HDMI input and it works fine. The 2 receivers I lost also worked fine with them, so am I going crazy? anyone have come across this or have any suggestions? And, since this is a somewhat cheap unit but works, what is everyone out there using for receivers these days? without breaking the bank? I enjoy watching FTA TV, so I will invest more if needed, what is a really good, detailed unit these days. I'm so use to watching a few of them HD channels. Right now I'm down to composite hookups, yuck! Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Frank

For 105W C, you scan in the Westwood tp normally. Then select the audio channel you want. Not necessary to manually enter. On 101W, you must manually enter.

Now that I'm retired, obviously I have different health care insurance. I take 2 prescriptions. With my old insurance I didn't have to pay for either of them, now I do. It's not a huge amount but it led me to dig a little into the cost of prescription medications. I have been using Walgreens for the longest time. But what I found was that Walgreens price is 4.8 times more for one of my prescriptions and the other is 2.3 percent more compared to the lowest price pharmacy. If you pay for prescription medications you might want to have a look at trumprx and see if you can get a lower price.

Usually it's Walmart or Sam's + GoodRx

Also...

You can also price them through the CareCard and WellRx apps.

Sometimes Amazon Pharmacy is cheapest.

I take 10mg Rosuvastatin (Crestor). I was paying $34 for a 90day supply at Walgreens last year when I was on Blue Cross. My Blue Cross premiums were going up to $1800 a month this year, so I switched to an Ambetter Bronze plan (I think that's a Cigna company) for $825 a month. I now have a $40 copay for doctors visits which is fine as I usually only see them once or twice a year, so a huge cost savings. My Rosuvastatin was going to go up to around $90 for a 90 day supply at Walgreens and even more at CVS or one of the local family pharmacies. Ordering online thru my insurance portal from Express Scripts it's $0.74 for a 90 day supply.

I'm fortunate and don't take any medications. A couple years ago I had to take some antibiotics and used the GoodRx app. Went to Walmart and the person behind the desk knew me and told me to just buy them outright....the GoodRx price was a LOT higher. She said they aren't supposed to tell customers when they see they are being screwed.
