Not so sure about the direction Discovery is taking.

Do y'all remember Majel Barrett as Number One in the original pilot (among other memorable Star Trek characters)? She was married to Gene Roddenberry for... Ah... 1969 until Roddenberry's death in 1991. Alas, Barrett herself kicked the bucket in 2008 and was still acting in that same year.

I'm all for this new series. I loved Anson Mount as Pike. He made the second season of Discovery come to life for me. Having Spock along won't hurt either.

No skirts for men or women. Ms. Romijn's costume is pretty much the same as Mr. Mount's costume outside of the rank markings on the sleeves.

Grace Lee Whitney's costume above reminds me of the fact that Barbara Eden had to cover her belly button in I Dream Of Jeannie not many years before Star Trek.

So I would think they will continue that continuity in the new series.

Commander Nhan was wearing a skirt with the red tunic when the Enterprise crew beamed aboard Discovery in the 2nd season premiere.

The OG ladies uniforms were mini-dresses.

Nhan's midi-skirt uniforms appear to be unique to her on Enterprise. It appears that her Discovery uniform is a midi-dress equivalent of the Starfleet jumpsuit.

On other generations of Star Trek, (not including the movies), most of the Starfleet women wore the Starfleet tunic and trousers. Troi, T'pol and Seven of Nine had exceptions at one time or another.

I'm looking forward to seeing this series, whenever it airs (last I read, they haven't even started filming yet), they're hoping for sometime in 2021. Latest I read, they're talking Discovery S3 sometime in October now.
The animated comedy, "Lower Decks", reads like something I could live without easily enough...
