The cat-faced girl was baffling.

That was M'Ress from "Star Trek - The Animated Series" who was a member of the Enterprise crew in the last two years of Kirk's command.

This season would be awesome if it were 22 episodes long and these were intermixed in the season. Weird, kookie is okay... but it is so disconnected. This isn't a season as much as a small collection of virtually independent episodes that have very little to do with anything.

They are also abusing Deus ex Machina. Feels more like a 50s cinema serial than a decently serious show. There are almost no consequences to any actions. Lower Decks did a much better job with plot than this season.

In that few (if any) of the storylines were worth doing (or hadn't already been visited), it might be worth doing more. As it was, it was time to stick a fork in whatever entity was running the show.
