Is the 101w satellite getting replaced in the near future? The reason why i am asking is its been up since mid 90's. Plus I talked to a CSR he said they are taking down a satellite he thought it was the 72.5w any info?

72.5 is going away. That HAD some local markets on it. Those have since moved to 99/103

101W might get a new sat someday but right now its still trucking along

Directv 8 (the 101 CONUS sat) was launched in mid 05 so its still good to go
The HD sats have been launched in the last couple years

There are four sats at the 101 location, only one of which is defunct...

During our transition from the 72.5 for locals lots of customers asked "Why the change?". Told more than a few that it was in a meteor's path and would soon be destroyed. Told MOST later that I was kidding, but admittedly not all. Your fun is where you find it.
