I'm starting to think that all the nervous energy from the Cleveland fans is bringing the Cavs down. I've seen it before.
Boston fans were the worst. The Red Sox had plenty of teams capable of going all the way and then they'd get to the playoffs and Boston fans would start with all the curse stuff and the team would implode. Same thing with the Cubs. How does a team good enough to reach the playoffs just start to commit 5 errors a game? It's all the Billy Goat stuff the Cubs fans talk about. I think the Clevland fans put a hex on the Cavs before this series even started. Now it's like watching a a horror movie or a great comedy depending on your perspective.
I wish I could disagree with that, but I can't.
Seriously, HOW else do you explain all the really strange events that happened to the Red Sox- when it mattered most (Bucky Dent, Bill Buckner, Aaron Boone, etc., etc., etc.). Curses smurses! The Sox (and us fans) were burdening themselves with their past and CHOKED under the pressure.
Notice that they're turned their whole attitude around AFTER losing Game 3 of the ALCS to the Yankees 19-8 and falling behind 3 games to 0. It's because the pressure was off, and they were playing with house money. What happens? They win four in a row against the Yankees, sweep the 105 win Cardinals in the World Series, and then win the World Series again three years later.
In fact going back to 1986, the Red Sox almost always play better when they're playing with house money.
I'm not saying that's the case with the Cavs. I'm just saying that Anders brings up a very valid point. Carrying the burden of your franchise or city can be a very taxing thing.
That's part of the reason why I'm rooting very hard for the Cavs...........I can relate to loyals fans like HD and Sky.
