Its a good thing polls don't mean anything at this point.

Because LSU beat, at what’s considered at this time, a top ranked team, on the road. Only logical that they would jump folks.

I can't believe that Saban is bitching about the heat .....
Coach, um, it's ALWAYS Hot down there this time of year.

Don't worry, your team won't play anyone difficult till later in the season.

Middle of October and beginning of Nov, thats it, you should be fine.

You would think that they would have Have to Play teams from the other side of the division, like maybe play someone, say Georgia every year .....

The Big Ten has it set up so you have to still play your Rivals even if your in the other division.
When TTUN was in the other side, the Buckeyes still played them ...

The Big Ten has it set up so you have to still play your Rivals even if your in the other division.
When TTUN was in the other side, the Buckeyes still played them ...

They do play teams from the other division every year. I am not sure how the Big 10 rotates cross divisional teams, but in the SEC, every school has one permanent cross division team that they play every year, and the others rotate through the schedule year to year.

So for Bama, the permanent team is their biggest rival, Tennessee. It was set up that way to preserve that game. The Vols have sucked for a decade (and a couple of years), so many dont remember how big of a game that was when they went to a two division format.

Edit: never mind, i looked up how the Big 10 does it so that I would have some idea of what I was talking about, and it doesnt seem that how you stated the Big 10 has it set up is entirely accurate as of 2016 (if wikipedia is to be believed)

When Maryland and Rutgers joined the Big Ten in 2014, the division names were changed to "East" and "West", with Purdue and the six schools in the Central Time Zone in the West and Indiana joining the remaining six Eastern Time Zone schools in the East. The only protected cross-division game is Indiana–Purdue. Beginning in 2016, the Big Ten adopted a nine-game conference schedule.[34][58] All teams have one cross-division opponent they play annually that changes every six years except for Indiana and Purdue, whose crossover is permanent. The other six opponents are played every three years during that cycle.

Simple, someone else played better, and the first polls of the season are nothing more than guesses, therefore there should be volatility as teams show they're better (or worse) that the pollster guesses.

Georgia & Alabama aren't considered rivals in the SEC. Georgia's rivals would be Aubarn followed by Florida and Alabama's would be Aubarn followed by Tennessee.

Back in the 10 team days, Georgia & Alabama hardly ever played. They've just never been considered rivals.

The only permanent cross division match that the Big Ten has is Perdue & Indiana, because they're in the same State. The SEC (as did the ACC) meanwhile gave everyone a permanent cross division opponent to preserve several of the old SEC rivalries (Georgia/Aubarn, Alabama/Tennessee, Florida/LSU).

I do wish the SEC (as well as the ACC) would go to a 9 game schedule though in order to better cycle the other non-divisional games. The expansions to 14 teams have killed the frequency of those games.

He may be talking about the University President making a statement about how since 2014 Alabama has played more daytime home games in september than any other conference school. Again, that was the President, although Saban did mention how he wished some of the games were at different times. The broadcasters set those times however.

The only other thing I can think of is Saban has for years harped on the students leaving the games early when its a blowout against a OOC team, which it usually is. He walked that back a little this week saying he knew it was hot at the games and that may present a hardship for some fans.

For the life of me I cant see how either of those situations equate to Saban "bitching about the heat".

The more that comes out about that, the more petty it makes Texas look. The only reason LSU knew to bring extra fans is the team that played their the prior week gave them a heads up.

And of course it's the "first" they heard of it.

As if their people don't go in and clean up the locker room after the games. It was petty and they know it, makes me glad that LSU beat them.

Between this, and putting the LSU band in the nosebleeds, should make it interesting when Texas goes down to Baton Rouge next year.

Alabama not happy with start time due to heat

Alabama's administration isn't pleased that the Sept. 21 football game against Southern Mississippi will be played at 11 a.m. local time, when temperatures are routinely in excess of 90 degrees this time of year.

University President Stuart R. Bell and athletic director Greg Byrne issued a joint statement on the heels of last weekend's 3 p.m. kickoff against New Mexico State, when the heat index was upward of 105 degrees. Cooling stations were set up throughout Bryant-Denny Stadium, but in the second half many fans began clearing out, especially those in sections not shaded from the sun.

"We are disappointed that our game against Southern Miss has been selected as a daytime kickoff at home," the statement from Bell and Byrne read. "We realize we've played more non-conference day games at home in September than any other SEC team since 2014. There have been a number of conversations with our conference office, and they also recognize the challenges these kick times present for our student-athletes and fans."

Alabama played three home games last September, two of which were at 2:30 p.m. and the other was at 11 a.m.

Earlier on Monday, coach Nick Saban began his weekly news conference by acknowledging the heat inside Bryant-Denny Stadium against New Mexico State.

"One thing I would like to say is I know it was a difficult day for our fans because of the circumstances surrounding the weather and I'd like to thank the fans for supporting the team and a lot of people hanging in there to try to support the team," he said. "I think the players really appreciate it. We know it was a difficult circumstance for a lot of folks, and hopefully our administration will continue to work to try to play some of these games at a different time."

Yeah that’s what I referenced earlier.

hardly what I would call him bitching about it. He acknowledged the heat and difficulties for the fans, also stated a desire for different game times, but never bitched about it as to it impacting games and on the field performance, which is what I got out of Jimbos post.

I would rather play at 11am when its just starting to warm up instead of at 6 or 7pm when its already hot and takes a while to cool down once the sun sets.

Same here. The humidity really sets in around 3-4. With an 11am game you're not starting in the worst of it, and instead ending before it gets really bad. The 3:00 games are the worst to be out in.

Just for temp, I agree. However the last one I went to, it was absolutely unbearable in the direct sunlight, when the sun finally got behind the other side upper deck, while the temp was the same if not hotter, it felt much more comfortable.

LSU did not play better than Ohio State this week, they just played a team that is a bit better than OSU did.

Fwiw, Cincinnati, is very good and will have a very good season .... they will more than likely end up in the top 25.

That said, your right, (and I mentioned that as well) the polls mean nothing at this point.
