2nd Receiver at Deer Camp

We have a dual receiver Directv Dish at our Deer Camp. One is in the living room running a projection TV. I would like to use the other in my bedroom. Can I buy a $10-15 receiver plus access card from ebay and make it work without calling Directtv to activate (seems silly for 2 weeks to say nothing of costly) OR could a bring a friends receiver and make it work?
May be a naive question but I am a 60 yr old high tech dinosaur.

NO

YES, assuming that his receiver is activated & subscribed to the programming you want to watch.


Note that if your temp location is outside of your market's spot beam (assuming you have one) you will lose that programming; such as RSNs and local affiliates.

Thanks. I assume by that, the 2 receivers I bought from ebay are useless? :-(

For free yes, but you should be able to actually activate / subscribe them to your acct.
