I have read that to my program guide working again I need a rehit and that I can get this when I subscribe to programming. Will I lose the channels I can already get when I get a rehit? It's not a lot, but it's free and I would like to keep it.

nah you won't . i've never lost any channels. NPS has a good selection of channels. u should try them if your going to sub.
