Has anybody tried cascading a dp34 and a dp21 with a 622 yet. Thats how i've had my 811 connected since Voom. I tried with my 622 with no luck. It recognized the dp34 dp21 in the device field but only picked up 2 of 4 satellites on both tuner inputs (129 and 110). 110 was one of three going into the 34 along with 119 and 105... and 129 was by itself in port 2 of both 21 switches. The other 2 sats came back with X's. I thought maybe the 34 wasnt getting enogh power through the dp21's so i connected 2 other receivers to the 2 open ports on the 34 with no luck. Just wanted to see if anybody else has succesfully tried this with a 622?

Only thing I can see if you have your DP21s hooked up to port 1 of the DP34. Have another reciever feed in there to give the DP34 power and use the DP21s on 2 other ports of the DP34 and have them feed your 622.

I tried it on a recent install of a Dish1000 to replace a Dish500 that had two 322's and a 301. The original consisted of a DP34 and a DP21 for the fifth receiver outlet. It worked fine, when everything was hooked to two satellite positions.

I replaced the 301 with a 211. The 211 needed 3 satellite positions. The two satellite positions of the DP21 conflicted with the three satellite position DDP34.

In the end, I replaced the DP21 with another DP34.

Here is a diagram of what i've got.. It should work shouldnt it? I'm gonna let dish bring me a dpp44 switch on the scheduled install but i cant figure out why this wont work.

Looks like it should work, the only thing I see that might be a problem is using outputs 2&3 rather than 1&2 or 3&4. Swap 2 with 4 and try again.

Another suggestion is to put 119 on input 1, 110 on 2, and 105 on 3. Having an FSS rather than DBS bird on 1 might be causing a problem.

Bobabird is definitely on the right track. 105 on input #1 means that whoever installed it never finished reading the instructions (specifically around step 16 or 17 of the SD install).

ACROSS THE BOARD, ALWAYS have 119 to input #1 of WHATEVER switch you're using. Also, when cascading switches, always put the upstream switch on input #1 of the downstream switch (which will always be a DP21). When trunking switches (eg. DP34 to DP34), always go straight across - just to avoid confusion.

Mike, I think you answered a question for me - but please confirm - using a DP34, I can of course drive 4 tuners - on two 322 receivers --- to to add a 311 as a third receiver I can hook a DP21 to the trunk outputs for 110 and 119 and I should be okay - right? I can pick up a DP21 a heck of a lot cheaper than another DP34 ... Yes I realize the 311 will only ever see two birds.

Yes, you can hook a DP21 to the trunking outputs of a DP34. Connect DP21 Input #1 to DP34 trunk output #1 - which needs to be 119. DP21-In2 to DP34-TO2.
